A brief analysis of the amniotic fluid index at seven months

For pregnant women, during the ten months of pregnancy, various body indicators and functions are changing to varying degrees, not only the bulge of the belly and weight gain, but also blood pressure, blood sugar, etc. Knowledge and understanding of these treatments can help us better understand the pregnancy process and detect abnormal problems at any time. So what we are going to talk about below is the issue of amniotic fluid, including the changes before and after 28 weeks.

Generally speaking, amniotic fluid examination is performed between 16 and 20 weeks of pregnancy, and amniotic fluid is collected for examination through amniocentesis. Examination items include cell culture, sex chromosome identification, chromosome karyotype analysis, amniotic fluid alpha-fetoprotein measurement, amniotic fluid biochemical examination, etc., to determine the maturity and health status of the fetus, and to diagnose whether the fetus is normal or has certain genetic diseases.

First, divide the uterus into four quadrants, measure the maximum depth of the amniotic fluid in each quadrant, and then add up the total. A total value within the range of 5 to 18 cm is considered normal. A value less than 5 indicates oligohydramnios, and a value greater than 18 indicates polyhydramnios. The maximum value among the four quadrants is the maximum depth of amniotic fluid. The normal range of the amniotic fluid is 30-70mm. If it is below 30mm, it is oligohydramnios, and if it is above 70mm, it is polyhydramnios.

Secondly, the depth of amniotic fluid is an important indicator to judge the amount of amniotic fluid. If there is too much amniotic fluid, the fetus can grow healthily; if there is too little amniotic fluid, it can cause meconium accumulation during the fetal delivery period, or even premature birth or suffocation. The normal amniotic fluid depth (dvp) is 3-8cm. Before 28 weeks (7 months) of pregnancy, because there is more amniotic fluid and the fetus is smaller, the fetus has a larger range of movement in the uterine cavity and the fetal position is easy to change. After 32 weeks (8 months) of pregnancy, the fetus grows rapidly and the amniotic fluid decreases relatively.

Therefore, regarding the issue of amniotic fluid in the seventh month of pregnancy mentioned in the topic, it is actually different for every expectant mother. Generally, the 28th week, which is before 7 months, is called the unstable fetal position period. At this time, the amniotic fluid is relatively more, leaving a larger range of activities for the small fetus, and then it gradually decreases. In short, understanding these data can make expectant mothers more mentally prepared.
