About the treatment of mastitis

About the treatment of mastitis

With the development of the times, living standards are getting higher and higher, but some diseases are becoming more and more common, especially mastitis. When it comes to disease treatment methods, many people are more traditional and prefer to choose Chinese medicine. Different patients have different treatment methods, and we must prescribe the right medicine for the right disease. The treatment methods for mastitis are also different at different times. Let’s take a look below!

Mastitis is divided into early stage, suppurative stage and late ulcer stage. Today we will talk about what to do in these three stages.

1. Early days

Early mastitis is relatively easy to treat. Its initial stage is mainly manifested by milk stasis and internal heat and toxins. The treatment principles are detoxification, clearing heat, promoting lactation and reducing swelling.

Oral medicine: Decoction: You can use the Trichosanthes and Burdock Decoction with modifications: Trichosanthes, Burdock Fructus, Radix Trichosanthis, Baical Skullcap Root, Tangerine Peel, Gardenia Fructus, Flos Lonicerae, Flos Bupleuri, Fructus Forsythiae, Squama Plantain Squama, Vaccaria Segetalis, Rhizoma Cyperi, add Citrus Aurantii Leaf and Cistanche Deserticola for Qi stagnation; add Gypsum Fibrosum for obvious fever, use more Baical Skullcap Root, add frankincense, myrrh and red spoon for swelling and pain.

Topical medications: external application of golden ointment, jade dew ointment or Glauber's salt solution, or external application of breast healing ointment. It is simple, convenient and effective. In the initial stage, pay attention to keeping milk discharge unobstructed.

2. Purulent stage

The treatment method for the purulent stage also selects the treatment drugs based on the patient's two principles. There are two principles for treatment during the pus stage: one is weaning; the other is sufficient drainage of pus.

Treatment: Clear away heat and detoxify, expel toxins and release pus. The prescription of choice is Sanjiedan No. 1 or Tounongsan with additions and subtractions: Angelica sinensis, raw rhubarb, pangolin, Sichuan pepper, soapberry thorn, wild chrysanthemum, dandelion, plantain, scutellaria, honeysuckle, platycodon, raw licorice, charred hawthorn, and charred malt.

Surgery: Radial incision and drainage to avoid damaging the milk network, areola, and nipple; for small and shallow breast abscesses, needle puncture and pus extraction can be used, and breast healing cream (patch) or golden powder can be applied externally; fire needle drainage can also be used, with a thicker metal needle (4 mm) or a three-edged needle, burned red with flame, and quickly inserted into the abscess. Then pull it out quickly.

3. Late stage of ulcer

The treatment during this period is to drain pus and extract toxins, and the decoction used is Simiao Decoction with modifications: roasted Scutellaria baicalensis, Chinese angelica, honeysuckle, dandelion, wild chrysanthemum, and roasted licorice. After local incision and drainage of pus, use Ba Er Dan or Jiu Yi Dan to extract pus and detoxify, and use medicated thread for drainage. If the pus has been drained out, you can use Sheng Ji San to close the wound and apply red ointment with gauze. If there is pus bag phenomenon, you can use cotton padding method to prevent pus retention. If a breast sinus is formed, you can use Wu Wu Dan medicine twist to insert the sinus to corrode the tube wall. After the pus disappears, give Sheng Ji San to promote sinus healing.

It is true that traditional Chinese medicine has relatively few side effects, and there is nothing wrong with choosing traditional Chinese medicine as a treatment method. I believe you already understand this. Therefore, in order to have a healthy body, changing bad living habits is also very important. Many things need to be improved step by step, not all at once. I hope the patient can get rid of the pain as soon as possible!
