Why does the umbilical cord torsion occur?

The umbilical cord is necessary for the fetus to grow and develop in the mother's body. If there is any problem with the umbilical cord, it will have a great impact on the fetus. If it is not discovered in time, it may even cause serious harm to the fetus such as asphyxiation. So how does umbilical cord torsion occur?

If the fetus moves frequently in the mother's body, or even often moves in one position, it is easy to cause umbilical cord torsion, because the fetus is completely out of control in the mother's body. In order to avoid this situation, fetal heart rate monitoring and regular fetal movement checks must be performed in the late pregnancy. If abnormal fetal movement is found, go to the hospital as soon as possible to end the pregnancy. Once the umbilical cord is twisted, the fetus's breathing will become urgent.

It may not even be able to absorb nutrients normally. If it is not treated for a long time, the fetus may be in serious danger of death. However, this situation is difficult to avoid. It can be avoided only if women have regular checkups in the late stages of pregnancy. In particular, the longer the pregnancy is, the more time the embryo has to undergo development and the amount of blood circulating in the fetus will increase to a certain extent, in order to prevent umbilical cord torsion. The condition of umbilical cord torsion can also be understood by detecting umbilical cord blood flow through ultrasound.

If abnormalities are found in the blood, the pregnant woman can be treated by sleeping on her left side or giving oxygen. In the case of umbilical cord torsion, if it is not recovered in time, it will have a great impact on the health of the fetus. I hope every woman will pay attention to prevent this situation from happening during the late pregnancy.
