The process and nursing of incision hardening after cesarean section

Nowadays, many women have cesarean sections, believing that this method is safer and will not harm the health of mother and child. However, many women are particularly distressed by the hardening of the incision after cesarean section. Therefore, they want to understand the process and care of the hardening of the incision after cesarean section. In order for you to understand it as soon as possible, please see the detailed introduction below.

The process of hardening the blade

Once a wound appears on the skin, the human body will begin to heal automatically. There are two mechanisms for wound healing. If the wound is in the epidermis, the human body will produce the same cell tissue to fill it without leaving any scars. However, if the wound penetrates deep into the dermis, in order to prevent the wound from cracking, the skin will produce strong scar tissue to effectively connect the wound. Within three to six months after an injury, scar tissue will continue to proliferate, which is called the proliferative phase. During this period, the human body will proliferate tiny blood vessels near the wound to supply nutrients to the scar tissue. Therefore, early scars look red and raised, and feel hard like a rope.

If the healing process goes smoothly, the scar will enter the mature stage after the proliferative stage. The scar will fade, flatten and soften during the mature stage, and the average healing time is also three to six months. However, whether in the proliferative stage or the mature stage, scar tissue will continue to renew itself in response to the environment. It is not just a piece of flesh on the wound, but also a living, changing tissue. Therefore, the treatment of scars must be targeted at the cause and is not static.

The wound caused by cesarean section is larger and the chance of infection is relatively higher. Since the thicker the subcutaneous fat, the greater the chance of wound infection, fatter expectant mothers must pay more attention to postpartum wound care.

For some expectant mothers, due to their physical condition, the scars will grow larger and larger, which not only affects the appearance, but also causes itching, which is very difficult to deal with. If you have this physical condition, you should use silicone sheets shortly after the operation to reduce the occurrence of keloid.

Do-it-yourself care

1. Do not get the wound wet or dirty before it heals. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately and apply betadine.

2. After the operation, the doctor will apply cosmetic glue on the wound and then cover it with gauze. The gauze can be removed after 4 days, or immediately if it is damp. The cosmetic glue should be torn off after about a week and replaced with ventilation paper tape.

3. After showering, tear off all the tape on the wound, wipe the wound dry (no need to apply medicine), and then stick 2 pieces of 3M breathable paper tape, 2.5 cm wide, along the wound.

4. The breathable paper tape must be applied flat and close to the wound to compress the scar to prevent it from becoming wider and thicker. Change it every 3 to 4 days. It can come into contact with water. After contact with water, use a dry towel to dry the surface. Apply one layer after one month and continue for 3 to 6 months.

5. If you experience allergic reactions when using breathable paper tape, such as rash, redness, or skin breakage, do not use it temporarily and continue using it after the symptoms improve.

6. For people with flat wounds, use breathable paper tape. For pregnant women who are prone to allergies or scars, use silicone gel as instructed by the doctor.

7. Gently massage the wound with your fingers for 3 to 5 minutes every day to reduce scar formation.

8. Avoid exposing the wound to direct sunlight, which will deepen the color of the scar. If there are scabs, do not scratch them with your hands, let them fall off naturally.

9. If the abdominal wound is red, swollen, burning, painful, or has exudate, please return to the hospital for treatment.

10. Avoid pulling the wound and do postpartum exercises after one month.

The above is a comprehensive introduction to the process and care of the hardening of the incision after cesarean section. I believe that many women who have read this article have already had a comprehensive understanding. Through understanding the above content, you can choose a regular hospital as soon as possible, and after careful examination, carry out effective treatment, so that you can make your cesarean section incision hard as soon as possible and get effective improvement as soon as possible.
