What causes a lump in the breast?

Some female friends may experience lumps in their breasts, which are sometimes accompanied by symptoms of breast pain, endocrine disorders, and changes in menstrual cycles. There are many reasons for breast lumps, including irregular lifestyle, the activity level of female hormones, and disharmony in marital life, etc. Generally, different symptoms have corresponding diseases. Let us analyze them in detail below.

1. Lobular hyperplasia

Symptoms: Breast distension and pain 5-7 days before the onset of period, which is relieved during menstruation and then disappears. Cause: There are many causes of breast fibroids, but they are mainly closely related to endocrine disorders or mental emotions. The breasts of women of childbearing age are controlled by ovarian endocrine system. Once the ovarian function is affected by certain factors, such as emotional instability, bad mood, excessive fatigue, disharmonious sexual life, changes in living environment, or dietary problems, it can affect the imbalance of estrogen and progesterone secretion or the disorder of secretion rhythm and cause breast tissue hyperplasia.

2. Acute mastitis

Symptoms: Redness and swelling of the nipples, breast swelling, increased pain during breastfeeding, and even suppuration. Cause: Mostly occurs in postpartum breastfeeding women. Bacteria invade through the nipple and spread along the lymphatic vessels to the fat and fibrous tissue between the glandular lobes or glandular lobules. They can also directly invade the mammary ducts and spread to the glandular lobes or glandular lobules, causing purulent infection. Another reason is that women have milk congestion during lactation, or other reasons cause the mammary ducts to be blocked, causing bacteria to grow and multiply.

3. Breast fibroids

Symptoms: This type of fibroid does not cause obvious pain, grows slowly, and is relatively easy to find. When you see a lump that is obviously higher than the skin, it is likely a fibroid. Generally, this type of tumor will not worsen, but the possibility of smaller lesions cannot be ruled out. If discovered, it can be removed using minimally invasive surgery without damaging the breast. Cause: Fibroma is the most common type of benign breast tumor, most of which occur in young women between 20 and 25 years old. Its occurrence is related to the activity of female hormones.

Through the above explanation, we know that lumps in the breast are mainly caused by the three diseases mentioned above. You don’t need to worry, because these are not incurable diseases. There are corresponding treatments. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself.
