Normal uterine size

Normal uterine size

In addition to the important factor of ovarian ovulation, the uterus is equally important for women to have children. Even if the ovaries are healthy and ovulate normally, if the uterus is underdeveloped or invaded by inflammation, it may still lead to infertility. You know, the fertilized egg needs to develop and grow in the uterus, so the health of the uterus is very important for fertility.

In order to check whether their uterus is normal, many female friends will do relevant examinations before getting married to see whether the size of their uterus is normal. However, many female friends do not know what the normal size of the uterus is.

Normal uterine size

The size of the uterus is 5.5-7.5cm in longitudinal diameter, 3.0-4.0cm in anterior-posterior diameter, 4.5-5.5cm in transverse diameter, and 2.5-3.0cm in cervical length. The uterus of an adult woman is about 7-8 cm long, 4-5 cm wide at the bottom, 2-3 cm thick, and weighs about 40-50 grams. Whether a small uterus can produce children still needs further examination. With the advancement of medical technology, some patients with a small uterus can become pregnant.

Changes in the uterus after pregnancy:

After pregnancy, the uterus undergoes some changes to adapt to the growth and development of the fetus. Before pregnancy, the uterus is only the size of a small duck pear, weighing 50 grams and with a volume of approximately 7 cm * 4.5 cm * 3.5 cm. By full-term pregnancy, the uterus weighs 1,000 grams, which has increased 20 times, and can accommodate 5,000 ml of contents including the fetus and amniotic fluid. The full-term uterus is 35 cm long, 25 cm wide and about 22 cm thick.

What is the normal thickness of the endometrium?

The endometrium is divided into the basal layer and the functional layer. The basal layer is not affected by the changes in ovarian hormones during the menstrual cycle and does not fall off during the menstrual period; the functional layer is affected by ovarian hormones and shows periodic changes, and becomes necrotic and falls off during the menstrual period. Therefore, the normal thickness of the endometrium is not a fixed value, but changes cyclically with the menstrual cycle.

After understanding the normal size of the uterus, I believe you should also understand whether you can have children. It has no particularly direct relationship with the normal size of the uterus. If it is not caused by disease, it will not affect fertility. However, many female friends will have congenital uterine hypoplasia, which will bring certain threats to pregnancy.
