How long does it take for lochia to be clean?

Lochia is mainly some blood and mucus discharged from the vagina of a woman after childbirth. After delivery, it is mainly the shedding of the uterine membrane, especially the placental attachment, and some necrotic tissue, which are discharged through the vagina, mainly becoming some postpartum lochia. Many people do not know about the discharge time of lochia. In daily life, women's lochia is composed of some medical and other types of mucus discharged from the vagina.

Some postpartum lochia mainly occurs one week, one and a half months, half a month or less than three weeks after delivery. There are mainly lochia of different colors. They are mainly manifested in the amount of uterine bleeding. Some other types of postpartum lochia that is not clean can cause some other types of diseases.

Lochia rubra In the first week after delivery, the amount of lochia is large, bright red in color, and contains a large amount of blood, small blood clots and necrotic decidual tissue, which is called lochia rubra. Bloody lochia lasts for three to four days, the amount of uterine bleeding gradually decreases, the serous fluid increases, and it turns into serous lochia.

After one week to half a month of lochia serous, the amount of blood in the lochia decreases, and there are more necrotic decidua, cervical mucus, vaginal secretions and bacteria, which makes the lochia turn into light red serous fluid. The lochia at this time is called lochia serous. Serous lochia lasts for about ten days, the serous fluid gradually decreases, the white blood cells increase, and the lochia turns into white lochia.

After half a month to three weeks, the lochia no longer contains blood, but contains a large number of white blood cells, degenerated decidua, epidermal cells and bacteria, making the lochia viscous and white in color, so it is called white lochia. The white lochia lasted for three weeks without any bleeding.

The above is how long it takes for the lochia to be clean. After half a month to three weeks, the lochia will no longer contain blood. Some other types of unclean postpartum lochia will lead to other types of diseases and local infections, which can induce postpartum hemorrhage and some infections. White lochia lasts for three weeks to be clean, so it is also very important to keep the postpartum lochia clean in daily life.
