A light diet does not equal a vegetarian diet! Don’t misunderstand it anymore

As living standards improve, people pay more and more attention to healthy eating, and light diet has become the choice of many people who pursue health. However, the misconception that "light diet means vegetarianism" is deeply rooted in the public's cognition, causing many people to make mistakes when practicing light diet, which not only fails to achieve the expected health goals, but may even harm their health.

1. The connotation of light diet

Light diet emphasizes strict control of oil, salt, and sugar intake, and reduction of irritating food intake on the basis of ensuring comprehensive and balanced nutrition. Its core lies in "three lows and one high", namely low oil, low salt, low sugar, and high dietary fiber. The choice of ingredients is rich and varied, including vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans, high-quality protein (such as lean meat, fish, poultry, eggs, dairy products), etc. The cooking methods tend to be steamed, boiled, stewed, and cold mixed, so as to retain the original flavor and nutritional components of the food to the greatest extent. Light diet pursues a natural and healthy diet state, which can not only meet the body's needs for various nutrients, but also reduce the body's metabolic burden.

2. Definition of Vegetarianism

Being a vegetarian usually means completely giving up animal food and only taking plant food as the source of diet, including vegetables, fruits, grains, beans, nuts, etc. Vegetarians can be roughly divided into vegans, that is, they do not eat any animal-derived food, including meat, eggs, and dairy products; lacto-ovo vegetarians, who consume eggs and dairy products in addition to plant-based foods; and some vegetarians, who may occasionally consume a small amount of fish or other specific animal foods on the basis of a vegetarian diet.

Therefore, a light diet is not the same as being a vegetarian. A light diet is a dietary concept that pays more attention to nutritional balance and healthy cooking methods, while being a vegetarian is just a specific dietary choice. The two cannot be simply equated.
