Don't squeeze the "little volcano" on your skin

Furuncles, commonly known as boils, often quietly set up camp on our skin. The initiators are those uninvited pathogenic microorganisms, which particularly like to take root and sprout in the fertile land of hair follicles and sebaceous glands. Once they succeed, they will leave red and swollen marks on our skin, accompanied by unbearable pain and burning sensation, as if a small volcanic eruption on the skin.

Imagine that a small red dot suddenly appears on your skin. You may not take it seriously at first, but soon, the small red dot will turn into a swollen hillock, and the pain and heat will increase, making you want to squeeze it out. It not only affects your appearance, but some patients may experience repeated attacks, forming recurrent boils, which will affect skin health in the long term. It may also pose a threat to your health. For those with low immunity, boils may lead to systemic infection, and in severe cases, even threaten life safety.

If these pathogenic microorganisms are not taken seriously, they will wreak havoc in your body like a group of unruly invaders, wandering around through the blood or lymphatic system, causing serious complications such as sepsis and lymphadenitis. In addition, furuncle is very similar to folliculitis, but they are different. If you look closely, furuncle occurs deep in the hair follicles or in the surrounding area, and appears as a single, localized red and swollen nodule, which may fester and form pustules. Folliculitis, on the other hand, is centered on the hair follicles, and appears as small red bumps, which may be accompanied by mild pain or discomfort, and rarely have pus heads.

The internal cause of boils is sometimes due to the weakening of our body's defenses, such as decreased immunity, or problems with the body's sugar metabolism. Pathogenic microorganisms lurking in the sebaceous glands and hair follicles take the opportunity to cause trouble. External factors may be that the skin is often rubbed or irritated, which can become a breeding ground for boils. Especially in the hot summer, boils seem to prefer our head, face, back and chest.

We should not take boils lightly. Some people may think that as long as they squeeze the boils and remove the pus, the problem will be solved. But this practice is actually very dangerous, especially for boils located in the dangerous triangle area of the face. Once squeezed, bacteria may enter the brain through the blood, causing a series of serious complications such as cavernous sinus thrombosis, meningitis, sepsis and septicemia. Patients will experience symptoms such as high fever, headache, eyelid edema, etc. The problem is not solved, but worse... So, I am not trying to scare you, but don't squeeze boils when you encounter them.

When encountering such a "volcano" eruption on the skin, the correct way to deal with it is:

Never squeeze the abscess with your hands.

Follow the doctor's advice and actively treat the disease. Use the ointment as recommended by the doctor and change it on time. Depending on your physical condition, you can also consider Chinese medicine. Pay close attention to the recovery of the affected area.

3. Keep the affected area clean and dry to avoid further invasion of pathogenic microorganisms.

4. Avoid friction from tight clothing.

5. Eat a healthy diet, face up to the psychological pressure caused by the disease, seek psychological counseling and support when necessary, maintain a good attitude, and enhance immunity.

6. For patients with low immunity or recurrent furunculosis, regular physical examinations should be conducted to detect and deal with problems in a timely manner.
