1. Not all babies need additional vitamin supplements

There is no clear definition of how old a child should be to supplement vitamins. If infants and young children are fed with breast milk or formula, they generally have sufficient and comprehensive nutrients and do not need additional vitamin supplements. If certain symptoms occur, such as a lack of vitamin B or vitamin C, targeted supplements will be better. Vitamin D can promote calcium absorption, and infants should be supplemented, especially those who are exclusively breastfed. If vitamin D is not supplemented, taking the baby out to bask in the sun often can also convert it into vitamin D, thereby promoting calcium absorption. Let the baby bask in the sun, generally for half an hour to one hour a day, and be careful not to block the sun. If the baby wears a sun hat, holds an umbrella, or applies sunscreen, the sun exposure effect will not be achieved.

2. Vitamin supplements cannot replace fruits and vegetables

Vitamins should be supplemented from food as much as possible. Vitamin supplements cannot replace vegetables and fruits. If vitamins cannot be fully and effectively obtained due to some special circumstances, vitamin supplements can be considered. Because the various vitamins in vegetables and fruits are natural ingredients that exist in a certain proportion and are a collection of multiple vitamins; while most vitamin preparations are artificially synthesized, the two are different in nature. In addition to vitamins, vegetables and fruits also contain some natural substances that have similar effects on the human body as vitamins, such as chlorophyll, carotene, etc. In addition, vegetables contain non-vitamin nutrients such as minerals, trace elements, carbohydrates, and cellulose.

3. Vitamin supplements don’t always contain more vitamins.

For babies who are very picky eaters and have few choices of food, you can choose to supplement with comprehensive vitamins; if they are lacking in certain vitamins, it is recommended to supplement with targeted vitamins; if they are only lacking in a certain vitamin, there is no need to supplement with comprehensive vitamins, because some vitamins can cause accumulation and poisoning. Therefore, the more types of vitamins a child contains, the better.

4. Vitamins should be purchased from regular channels

When purchasing vitamin products, it is recommended to purchase products produced by regular manufacturers from regular channels and choose reliable brands.

5. It is best for a doctor to decide how often and how much vitamins should be taken.

When supplementing vitamins for babies, you must pay attention to the dosage, especially for those who are vitamin deficient. It is best to let the doctor judge how to supplement. If the baby is deficient in a certain vitamin, it is best to go to the hospital for a reexamination after supplementing for a period of time to see the severity of the symptoms, or to see the dosage of the doctor's prescription. According to the situation, see the doctor for another examination to see if the symptoms have improved, see if other symptoms occur, and comprehensively judge whether it is necessary to continue supplementing.
