Many women are very anxious to know whether they are pregnant, the baby's gender and so on after they become pregnant. For some couples who are expecting to have twins, the most urgent thing during pregnancy is to know whether they are twins. How long does it take to find out that you are pregnant with twins? How can you get pregnant with twins more easily?

How long does it take to find out if you are pregnant with twins?

Generally speaking, an ultrasound after 45 days of pregnancy can detect whether the baby is twins. B-ultrasound examination can show two gestational sacs as early as 7-8 weeks of pregnancy. After 13 weeks, the two fetal head halos can be clearly shown, and the corresponding spine, trunk, body, etc. can be seen.

In addition to checking whether the mother is pregnant with twins, it can also be observed from the mother's physical reaction. In the second month of pregnancy, pregnant mothers with twins experience more severe primary and secondary pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, retching, decreased appetite, irritability, and dizziness than mothers with only one child. The abdomen of a pregnant mother carrying twins is larger than that of a pregnant mother carrying a single baby, and the growth rate is significantly faster. Among the main symptoms of twin pregnancy, the pregnant mother's abdomen expands more significantly after 4 months of pregnancy.

What about twin babies?

1. Monozygotic twins. Monozygotic twins are when the mother releases an egg during one ovulation cycle. After it combines with the male sperm to form a sperm-egg combination, under certain conditions, this sperm-egg combination splits into two to produce two sperm-egg combinations with the same genetic material. These two sperm-egg combinations grow and develop separately to produce two fetuses. Because the genetic material of the mother carried by the two fetuses is basically the same, that is, they have the same genetic genes, so the twins born have the same gender, similar appearance, blood type, physical fitness, etc., which are generally called true twins. "

2. Dizygotic twins. Dizygotic twins are caused by certain conditions. The mother ovulates two eggs in one ovulation cycle. The two sperm and eggs produced by the fertilization of the two eggs combine and then grow into two fetuses respectively. These two eggs can be released from the same mature follicle, or from two mature follicles in the same uterus and ovaries, or from two mature follicles in both uterus and ovaries. Because the eggs of twins are discharged from the mother at the same time, the genetic material they carry is slightly different. Therefore, the combination of the two sperm and eggs of dizygotic twins is different. The two fetuses have different genetic inheritance. The gender and blood type of the fetuses may be the same or different. Their faces are similar to those of ordinary brothers and sisters. This is generally called false twins.
