How should patients with kidney disease exercise? Just read this!

1. Consult a doctor before exercising

Assess your own physical condition and kidney function to determine the appropriate type and intensity of exercise.

Understand the precautions and possible risks during exercise.

2. Choose the right type of exercise

Mild aerobic exercise, such as walking, jogging, Tai Chi, etc., helps improve cardiopulmonary function and enhance physical fitness.

Stretching exercises, such as yoga and Pilates, can increase body flexibility and joint mobility.

Avoid strenuous exercise and confrontational sports, such as football, basketball, etc., to prevent injury and aggravate the condition.

3. Control the intensity and duration of exercise

The principle is to avoid feeling tired or uncomfortable. During exercise, the heart rate can be controlled at 50% to 70% of the maximum heart rate (maximum heart rate = 220-age).

Exercise for 20 to 30 minutes each time, gradually increase the duration, and exercise 3 to 5 times a week.

4. Pay attention to your body’s reactions during exercise

Monitor blood pressure, heart rate and other indicators, and stop exercising immediately if any abnormalities are found.

If you experience symptoms such as dizziness, palpitations, shortness of breath, or back pain, rest immediately and seek medical attention.

5. Precautions after exercise

Proper replenishment of water and nutrition will help the body recover.

Perform relaxation activities, such as deep breathing and muscle stretching, to relieve muscle fatigue.

Kidney disease patients can improve their quality of life, enhance immunity and promote recovery through scientific and reasonable exercise. However, it must be carried out according to individual conditions and under the guidance of a doctor.
