Want to have myopia surgery after the college entrance examination? Please understand these precautions first →

The college entrance examination is approaching. Recently, many parents and students have come to the hospital clinic to consult about myopia surgery, planning to remove their glasses after the college entrance examination. In the consultation for myopia surgery, we will find that some common issues have received special attention. Today, I hope to use this article to answer the common doubts about myopia surgery after the college entrance examination for many students and parents, so that everyone can remove their glasses more calmly and better prepared.

How long after the college entrance examination should I undergo myopia surgery?

There is a long vacation after the college entrance examination. You can have the surgery at any time after the college entrance examination according to your own schedule and doctor's advice. However, if you need to have a vision check-up later, such as applying for military academies or police academies, you need to arrange the time in advance to ensure that you have enough time to recover and adapt after the surgery, so that you can be more confident and calm during the physical examination.

How to preliminarily determine whether you can undergo myopia surgery?

First of all, myopia surgery requires the patient to be between 18 and 50 years old. If there is a need for a physical examination, the age limit can be relaxed appropriately.

The second and most important point is that the degree of myopia has been relatively stable in the past two years, that is, the annual increase in myopia should not exceed 50 degrees.

Thirdly, there are no systemic diseases that may affect the surgery, such as hyperthyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, depression, etc., and the eyes are relatively healthy, for example, there has been no retinal detachment, uveitis, or inflammation.

What preparations are needed before myopia surgery?

0 1Confirm the doctor's time and make an appointment for a face-to-face consultation in advance. If you want to specify a doctor for surgery, you should consult the appointment time and surgery date in advance and be prepared for the surgery.

Summer vacation is the peak season for lens removal, and some doctors have a lot of appointments, so you should prepare early to avoid missing your desired surgery time.

0 2 Understand your own eye condition and do screening as early as possible . In fact, not everyone can undergo myopia surgery. The face-to-face consultation only understands the most basic personal information. To determine whether the eyes can be operated on, further detailed examinations are required.

After the examination, if you have a detailed discussion with the doctor and decide to have the surgery during the holidays, try to leave more time.

0 3 What should be noted before the examination① Preoperative examination for myopia surgery is a rigorous and meticulous process, which usually includes multiple key items such as vision assessment, intraocular pressure measurement, corneal topography analysis, corneal thickness measurement, dilated fundus examination, refractive power detection and slit lamp examination. To ensure the accuracy of the examination, patients should pay special attention to the following points before the examination: the eyes should be in a healthy state, without infection, inflammation or any discomfort symptoms; false eyelashes should be avoided to avoid affecting the examination results; for patients who wear contact lenses, they need to stop wearing them in advance, specifically: soft contact lenses should be stopped for at least 1 week, RGP and astigmatism contact lenses should be stopped for at least 3 weeks, and orthokeratology lenses (OK lenses) should be stopped for more than 3 months.

② Make sure to get enough rest the night before the examination and do not stay up late to avoid affecting the condition of your eyes.

③On the day of the examination, you need to dilate your pupils for an eye test and not drive. After dilation, you may feel a little afraid of the light, so you can wear sunglasses; this usually takes 6-8 hours to relieve.

④ The preoperative examination time for laser surgery is about 1-2 hours, and the preoperative examination for ICL lens implantation takes 4-5 hours. Avoid peak hours and reserve time in advance.

0 4What to prepare before surgery

①Relax your mind and do a good job of focusing training; don’t be too nervous, relax your mind, so that you can better cooperate with the surgery~

② Antibiotic eye drops need to be used according to doctor's orders before surgery;

③Please wash your hair and take a bath the day before the operation to keep your body clean;

④On the day of surgery, you can bring a family member or friend to accompany you;

⑤ On the day of surgery, do not wear makeup or perfume, and just wear loose and comfortable clothes.

How to choose the surgical method?

Myopia surgery is not "whatever you want to do". Myopia surgery is divided into "addition" surgery and "subtraction" surgery. "Addition" is lens implantation, which parents can understand as wearing contact lenses in the eyes. It is suitable for people with myopia within 50-1800 degrees. "Subtraction" is laser surgery (full femtosecond, half femtosecond). The doctor operates on the patient's cornea to achieve the purpose of correcting vision. It is suitable for patients with myopia below 1000 degrees. This surgery has certain requirements for the thickness of the patient's cornea.

Each surgical method has its own unique characteristics and scope of application. When choosing a surgical method, you should fully communicate with your doctor. The doctor will recommend the appropriate one based on the examination results, myopia, corneal thickness, eye health and other factors. Generally speaking, if all the examination data meet the surgical indications, then these surgical methods can be selected.

How long will it take to resume normal life and study after the operation?

After myopia surgery, your life and study can gradually return to normal, but the recovery process requires careful care.

Generally speaking, you need to avoid contact of eyes with water within 1 to 2 weeks after surgery to prevent infection and protect the surgical site. In the next 1 to 3 months, it is recommended to avoid participating in highly confrontational sports and any activities that may cause severe eye collisions and frictions to avoid unnecessary damage to the surgical site. However, ordinary exercises such as jogging, yoga, etc. can be started on the second day after surgery, but please make sure the exercise intensity is moderate to avoid excessive fatigue. For daily activities such as reading, looking at mobile phones, painting, etc., you can also start to gradually resume on the second day after surgery, but please be sure to get enough rest and sleep to reduce eye fatigue.

Can I travel after the operation?

After the operation, you can travel under the guidance of the doctor. But you should pay attention to the following points:

First, avoid using your eyes for long periods of time, especially when you are traveling and looking at your phone, tablet, or reading a book. Give your eyes enough rest time to prevent eye fatigue.

Secondly, try to avoid exposure to strong sunlight, as the ultraviolet rays in the sun may cause irritation and damage to the eyes after surgery. Please bring protective equipment such as a wide-brimmed hat, parasol or sunglasses to provide adequate protection for your eyes.

Finally, it is recommended to carry necessary medicines such as eye drops prescribed by a doctor with you in case of emergency. For example, if you go to some particularly dry areas, you need to increase the frequency of using artificial tears. If you experience eye discomfort or abnormal symptoms during your trip, please consult a doctor in time and follow the doctor's advice for treatment.
