How long does it take to tell the gender of a baby?

No matter whether they are boys or girls, they are all treasures of their parents. But it doesn't necessarily mean that parents don't care about the gender of their children. After all, in the thousands of years of Chinese history, women's influence was generally not high. Therefore, even though it is prohibited by Chinese law, some people still move forward resolutely. So, how long does it take to detect the gender of a baby during pregnancy? Let’s continue reading.

How long does it take to detect whether a man or a woman is pregnant?

At present, the most intuitive and accurate way to determine the sex of the fetus is through B-ultrasound examination. Generally, the gender of the fetus can be known by B-ultrasound examination around the fourth month of pregnancy. At 12 weeks of pregnancy, the fetal reproductive organs have already developed. At 16 weeks, the sex of the fetus can be determined from the reproductive organs. During the examination, the fetal position should be considered. When the fetal position is better, the judgment is more accurate. Therefore, the sex of the fetus determined by B-ultrasound is affected by the doctor's experience and the fetal position.

Prospective parents should note that although B-ultrasound can clearly show every organ and position of the fetus, including sexual organs, the current laws and regulations in my country stipulate that it is a violation of discipline to privately conduct fetal gender identification and assessment through B-ultrasound. In addition to traditional B-ultrasound examinations to identify the gender of the fetus, amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling can also be used to determine the gender of the fetus. Amniocentesis is mainly used as an auxiliary test for Down screening and the diagnosis of some genetic diseases. It can detect whether the fetus has abnormalities in the sex chromosomes. The best time to check amniocentesis is between 17 and 21 weeks of pregnancy. However, pregnant mothers should remember that amniocentesis is an invasive test with a 1% risk of miscarriage. Pregnant mothers who do not need to undergo this test should not take this risk, and should not use this method to check the gender of the fetus.

Chorionic villus sampling is usually performed between 10 and 14 weeks of pregnancy, also to confirm whether the fetus's sex chromosomes are normal, and some people also use this method to test the fetus's gender. However, this method is highly harmful and can easily lead to miscarriage. It can also easily harm the fetus, causing mutilation of its hands and feet. Therefore, for the healthy growth and development of the baby, prospective parents should not undergo this surgery simply to determine the sex of the fetus.

Whether it is B-ultrasound examination, amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling, these tests cannot tell the gender of the fetus from the data alone. Moreover, in China, privately using various methods to conduct fetal gender identification tests is considered an illegal act. It doesn't matter whether you have a boy or a girl, as long as the child is healthy, it is the greatest happiness. Therefore, prospective parents should put the healthy growth and development of the fetus first and treat the issue of having a boy or a girl correctly.
