Kidney patients beware! 3 bad habits that damage blood vessels, correct them now!

1. Not paying attention to weight control

Overweight and obesity are independent risk factors for hypertension and diabetes. Studies have shown that people with a body mass index (BMI) ≥ 24 kg/m² and central obesity (waist circumference ≥ 90 cm for men and ≥ 85 cm for women) have a much higher risk of developing hypertension and diabetes than the general population.

2. Not interested in exercising

Lack of physical activity is another common independent risk factor for hypertension and diabetes. A study showed that when subjects sit for a long time without changing their body position, their blood pressure will rise significantly with the time they sit, and this is more obvious in patients with hypertension. Regardless of whether the subjects have hypertension or not, walking or stretching for 3 minutes every 30 minutes during sitting can effectively lower blood pressure, and the latter is more effective in lowering blood pressure.

3. Long-term smoking

Smoking causes blood vessels to further contract and spasm, and blood viscosity to further increase, aggravating the pathology of large and small blood vessels, and eventually leading to blockage of blood vessels of all sizes, causing tissue ischemia and hypoxia. Previously, a study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association showed that the most likely cause of death for smokers is fatal cardiovascular disease.
