The incidence of fatty liver disease ranks first among liver diseases, so why do non-fat people also get it?

According to the "Guidelines for the Treatment of Fatty Liver Disease in China", the prevalence of fatty liver among adults in China has reached 12.5%~35.4% . Fatty liver has surpassed hepatitis B and ranks first among all liver diseases.

Abdominal B-ultrasound examination is the preferred method for early diagnosis of fatty liver. Fatty liver is a condition in which fat accumulates in the liver due to problems with fat metabolism in the liver.

When the liver becomes fat, the liver cells are full of "oil"! If left untreated, some people will gradually develop from simple fatty liver to fatty hepatitis, and even slowly develop into liver fibrosis.

There are two main types of fatty liver: one is alcoholic fatty liver, also called alcoholic liver; the other is non-alcoholic fatty liver, which is what people commonly call fatty liver.

In addition to obesity, the cause of fatty liver is also closely related to bad eating habits such as drinking, high-fat diet, fried foods and snacks. People with "three highs" of high blood pressure, high blood lipids and high blood sugar, and people with metabolic problems are also prone to "infection".

Patients who are starving for a long time due to excessive weight loss or anorexia can also suffer from fatty liver. Many thin patients actually have "hidden obesity", that is, visceral fat accumulation. It is related to the patient's eating habits, such as high fructose and high fat diet, PNPLA3 gene polymorphism, insulin resistance, intestinal flora disorders, visceral and ectopic obesity.

Poor diet is an important culprit of fatty liver, but fatty liver is not exclusive to fat people, thin people may also suffer from it. To prevent and treat fatty liver, we need to improve our lifestyle, which simply means "control our mouth and move our legs", and we also need to treat the cause.

However, excessive dieting will increase the risk of fatty liver. In addition, being a vegetarian for a long time may also cause fatty liver!
