Is it normal to have a 6-day delay in menstruation?

If a woman of childbearing age has her period delayed for six days, she should first have her blood or urine chorionic gonadotropin tested to determine whether she is pregnant. After confirming pregnancy, the patient can wait for the onset of menstruation without taking any measures. Since women's menstrual cycle is basically above their original cycle time, it is normal for it to be early or late within a week. If the menstrual period is delayed for more than one week, you can do color Doppler ultrasound to observe the condition of the uterine wall. If the uterine wall reaches 1.0 cm, you can wait for the first menstruation. If the uterine wall is less than 1.0 cm, corpus luteum copper or Chinese medicinal materials that promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis can be used to promote menarche.

If the menstrual period is delayed for 6 days and you have had normal sexual life in the past without taking any contraceptive measures, it is recommended to use morning urine to do a pregnancy test to eliminate the possibility of pregnancy. If you are not pregnant, considering that it is caused by endocrine imbalance, you can take progesterone orally to induce menstruation. The actual method is as follows: take progesterone capsules once a day, two capsules at a time, for 5 consecutive days. You will have your period 3-7 days after stopping the medication.

Because progesterone capsules cause dizziness in clinical practice, they must be taken before going to bed. If you still haven't had your period on the 8th day after stopping the medication, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for a check-up, mainly to rule out organic diseases of the sexual organs and whether there is ovarian aging.

For women in their growing years with normal menstrual cycles, if their menstruation is delayed, they should first rule out the possibility of pregnancy. If the menstrual period is delayed for 6 days, the urine pregnancy test will show a single line, indicating that the urine pregnancy test is negative and there is no pregnancy. However, if the pregnancy time is relatively short, the urine pregnancy test may be false negative. Therefore, it is necessary to check again after a week. If both urine pregnancy tests show one line, which is negative, then pregnancy can be ruled out. Currently, the more accurate testing method is to test the blood HCG, which can be detected 7 days after insemination.
