National Liver Care Day | How to take care of your liver scientifically? Come and learn these knowledge——

March 18, 2024 is the 24th " National Liver Care Day ". This year's publicity theme is " Early prevention and early screening, stay away from cirrhosis ."

Many people think that everyone around them with a little belly has fatty liver. After each physical examination, these people only have a slightly higher transaminase in their liver function indicators, and they don’t feel any discomfort. Until one day several years later, the word "cirrhosis" suddenly appeared on the physical examination report, and even symptoms of complications of cirrhosis such as vomiting blood, abdominal distension, and leg edema suddenly appeared. They were so anxious that they scratched their heads and couldn't help wondering when their liver problems suddenly worsened.

The liver is often called a "silent" organ. It often develops insidiously and attacks quietly. Which behavior is most harmful to the liver? What foods are good for the liver? How can we prevent cirrhosis and liver cancer? Please check this manual -

This behavior is very harmful to the liver

Lack of sleep. Many people have the habit of working or entertaining at night, but staying up late is most likely to cause liver disease. The reason is that during sleep, the human body will enter a self-repair mode. Frequently staying up late will not only lead to insufficient sleep and decreased body resistance, but also affect the liver's self-repair at night. "Late sleepers" should try to adjust their work and rest time. It is best to go to bed before 11 o'clock every night and ensure 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night to allow the liver to effectively detoxify and ensure overall health.

Overeating. Overeating not only damages gastrointestinal health, but also easily causes a significant increase in free radicals in the body. The key role of the liver is to help the body deal with free radicals, eliminate toxins, and purify the blood. The more free radicals there are in the human body, the more serious the damage to liver function. Moreover, many young people now do not eat breakfast. Eating breakfast helps neutralize stomach acid and protect the liver, reducing the risk of pancreatitis, diabetes, gallstones, constipation and other diseases. A healthy breakfast can prolong satiety and avoid liver damage.

Prefer fried foods, eating undercooked or burnt foods. Eating fried foods for one month can cause significant changes in the liver, triggering changes in enzymes similar to hepatitis. Similarly, eating undercooked or burnt foods (especially meat) can easily lead to liver damage. Studies have found that drunken shrimp, oysters, and undercooked shellfish often carry bacteria and parasites. Once acute gastroenteritis or dysentery occurs, it is easy to cause liver disease to worsen and even induce hepatic coma.

Excessive drinking. Excessive drinking will reduce the liver's ability to purify blood, leading to an increase in toxins in the body, inducing liver damage and a variety of diseases. In addition, alcoholism can easily lead to liver poisoning and induce hepatitis. Long-term excessive drinking can easily lead to cirrhosis. Drinking more than two glasses of high-concentration alcohol (25 ml) a day will damage the liver.

Healthy diet

Eat a variety of foods with reasonable combinations, eat more fruits and vegetables, milk, whole grains, and soybeans, less salt and oil, and eat regularly.

Exercise regularly

Exercise can promote muscle consumption of more calories, thereby accelerating fat metabolism and reducing excessive fat accumulation in the body. The National Fitness Guidelines propose that individuals should have 30 to 90 minutes of effective physical fitness activities every day, 150 to 300 minutes of moderate physical fitness activities, or 75 to 150 minutes of high-intensity physical activities per week .

Quit smoking and drinking

Do not smoke or drink. Smoking and drinking have a particularly great impact on the liver. Patients with hepatitis should especially quit smoking and drinking.

Regular medical check-ups

Because the liver has a strong compensatory ability and has no pain nerves, it will hardly send out any signals in the early stages of the disease. Therefore, it is particularly important to check the liver regularly to avoid further deterioration of liver disease or even life-threatening conditions.

Vaccination

At present, among the five common viral hepatitis, four types of viral hepatitis, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis D and hepatitis E, can be prevented by vaccination . Among them, hepatitis A vaccine and hepatitis B vaccine have been included in China's immunization program vaccines, and children of appropriate age can be vaccinated free of charge . For details about adult vaccination, please inquire at the nearby vaccination clinic.
