Traditional Chinese medicine helps the health of working women

International Women's Day is approaching. In response to the health problems encountered by working women during physical examinations, Li Han, chief physician of Shenyang Health Service Center, gave professional advice from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine:

1. Don’t panic if you have nodules. Relax and follow up regularly

Many professional women's physical examination reports show lung nodules, thyroid nodules, and breast nodules, which makes female friends feel very nervous. In fact, nodules do not mean cancer. Taking lung nodules as an example, it is reported that more than 90% of lung nodules are not lung cancer in the end. Thyroid nodules are relatively common, but only about 1% of nodules are malignant. Breast hyperplasia is a common symptom, which is related to the cyclical changes in hormone levels, and most breast hyperplasia will remain benign. Breast hyperplasia does not directly lead to breast cancer. Therefore, don't be too nervous when you hear the diagnosis of nodules. First, further examinations should be conducted to confirm whether it is benign or malignant. In addition, regular physical examinations should be performed to carry out relevant screening.

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, the formation of nodules is related to emotions. The Neijing says that "all diseases are caused by qi". Excessive worry, joy, sadness, fear and fear can damage the five internal organs. The liver is responsible for dispersing emotions and qi and blood. If the emotions are depressed for a long time, the liver qi will be uncomfortable, which will damage the spleen and stomach, and from the qi and blood, it will lead to qi stagnation and blood stasis, poor meridians, and blood stasis, which will become accumulation. Patients with lumps in the liver meridians such as the thyroid, breast, and uterus often have a history of emotional frustration, excessive worry, and qi stagnation turning into fire. Therefore, they should pay attention to maintaining a good attitude, open-mindedness, and long-term vision in life.

2. Don’t be depressed if you are overweight. Get moving and diet therapy can help

The physical examination report shows that the BMI or waist circumference exceeds the normal level. Overweight and obesity are independent risk factors for many chronic diseases, so weight management should be done by controlling your diet and moving your legs. Among them, the National Health Commission recently issued the "Guidelines for Adult Obesity (2024 Edition)", which provides dietary recommendations for weight control.

For patients with stomach fire stagnation and heat syndrome, such as eating more, digesting food quickly and feeling hungry, constipation, or even dry and hard stool, yellow urine, or dry and bitter mouth, liking to drink water, red tongue, yellow fur, and rapid pulse, Dendrobium candidum, malt, fresh reed root, and lotus leaf can be used to nourish yin and clear heat. For patients with heavy body, drowsiness, fullness in the chest and abdomen, accompanied by dizziness, dry mouth but no desire to drink, sticky and uncomfortable stool, liking to eat fatty and sweet alcohol, liking to lie down and be lazy, pale and fat or large tongue, greasy or slippery fur, and slippery pulse, Amomum villosum, Euryale ferox, Codonopsis pilosula, White lentil, Poria cocos, Chinese yam, lotus seed, and Coix seed can be used to strengthen the spleen, promote qi and eliminate dampness. For patients with Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome, such as laziness, sighing, chest tightness and fullness in the ribs, dark face and lips, dull color of limbs, or even cyanosis, accompanied by dry stool, insomnia, irregular menstruation, scanty or even amenorrhea, dark menstrual blood or blood clots, dark tongue or ecchymosis, thin tongue coating, stringy or astringent pulse, Angelica sinensis, peach kernel, bergamot, amomum, hawthorn, etc. can be used to promote Qi and blood circulation. For patients with bloating, fatigue, heaviness, abdominal distension, or mild edema in the limbs, which is lighter in the morning and heavier in the evening, especially when working, with normal or less diet, a history of overeating, difficulty urinating, loose stools or constipation, pale and fat tongue with tooth marks on the edges, thin white or greasy coating, and thin and moist pulse, Chinese yam, lotus seed, white lentil, astragalus, malt, amomum, poria, papaya, and jujube can be used to invigorate the spleen and eliminate dampness. For patients with spleen and kidney yang deficiency who are easily fatigued, have cold limbs or even cold limbs, like to eat hot drinks, have clear and long urination, have a pale and fat tongue, a thin white tongue coating, and a deep and fine pulse, you can choose Chinese yam, astragalus, cinnamon, dried ginger and other herbs that invigorate qi, warm yang and transform dampness.

3. During perimenopause, improve symptoms and enjoy life

Hot flashes, sweating, palpitations, backaches, and bad moods are common during perimenopause, which affect the quality of life. In fact, choosing appropriate Chinese patent medicines can effectively improve symptoms and enjoy a harmonious and beautiful life.

Hot flashes and sweating are related to vasomotor dysfunction, and are mainly manifested by a sudden feeling of heat, starting from the chest and neck, rushing to the head, and redness and sweating on the face, which lasts for a few seconds to a few minutes. Mild cases occur several times a day, while severe cases frequently experience fever and sweating dozens of times. If the hot flashes and sweating are obvious, Zhibai Dihuang Pills can be used.

For those who suffer from obvious vertigo, tinnitus, low back pain and bone pain, Chinese medicine believes that these are manifestations of liver and kidney yin deficiency, which may also be accompanied by a feeling of dryness in the eyes. Qiju Dihuang Pills can be chosen. For those who suffer from obvious insomnia and palpitations, it is due to insufficient heart qi. Baizi Yangxin Pills can be chosen. If there is also heat in the hands and feet, restlessness, and mouth ulcers, Tianwang Buxin Dan can be chosen.

Some people have emotional instability, which manifests as depression, grievances, and sadness. In terms of diet, Buddha's hand can be used to soothe the liver and stomach, and Perilla, Poria, and ginger can relieve qi and resolve phlegm. In addition, "Golden Chamber" provides a recipe that can be used for diet therapy - Ganmai Dazao Soup. You can take 10g of raw licorice, 100g of wheat, and 100g of jujube as a medicinal diet to boil and take, calm the mind and relieve irritability.

Some people also show symptoms of irritability, easy excitement, bad temper, and often lose temper for no reason and cannot control themselves. This is related to the fire of the heart and liver. You can choose lily and crystal sugar to moisten the heart and lungs, rose, albizzia and other blood circulation to please the heart, or take Jiawei Xiaoyao Pills.

Note: The above Chinese medicines must be used under the guidance of a physician or licensed pharmacist. Severe cases require prompt medical attention.
