110 years old! The original author of Let the Bullets Fly successfully fought cancer twice. What is his secret?

Recently, the famous writer Ma Shi Tu celebrated his 110th birthday. The movie Let the Bullets Fly directed by Jiang Wen is adapted from one of Ma Shi Tu's novels Ten Night Tales.

Although he has suffered from cancer twice, Ma Shi Tu, who is over 100 years old, is still full of energy.

Why was he able to successfully fight cancer twice? What was his secret?

First diagnosed with cancer in 2001

In 2001, Ma Shi Tu suffered from edema, muscle weakness and feeling unwell. After going to the hospital for examination, he was diagnosed with kidney cancer.

After consultation with medical and surgical doctors, immediate surgery was recommended because it can remove the primary tumor and reduce the chance of cancer cells spreading.

Ordinary people would be uneasy and afraid when facing cancer and surgery, but Ma Shi Tu, who was about to lie on the operating table, smiled and said to the surgeon: "It's OK if I have cancer. Eating grains can cause a variety of diseases. There is nothing to be afraid of!"

The operation, which lasted several hours, was very successful and Mr. Ma recovered well after the operation.

In 2007, he was diagnosed with cancer again

In 2007, Ma Shi Tu was diagnosed with lung cancer again.

But Mr. Ma eats, drinks and does what he needs to do. In front of Mr. Ma, cancer is an enemy. As long as he maintains a positive attitude and firm belief, he can defeat the disease and the enemy.

Ma Shi Tu once said: "In the dictionary of my life, there is no word 'surrender'." When facing cancer for the second time, he still insisted on writing and wrote the sequel to "Ten Night Tales" "Night Tales Continued" in the ward.

Ma Shi Tu has experienced many risks and hardships, sometimes even life-threatening ones, but he is strong, optimistic and open-minded, and he has finally overcome them all. His outlook on life is summed up in four sentences, namely, "Do your best, have no regrets, do what you want, and come and go clean."

The secret to fighting cancer: a good mood

Mr. Ma’s experience illustrates the importance of maintaining emotional stability and an open and open mind when fighting cancer.

Positive emotions can enhance immunity, improve treatment compliance, and improve quality of life; negative emotions can reduce immunity, aggravate the condition, and affect treatment outcomes.

But this does not mean that cancer patients need to force themselves to be happy or suppress their true feelings, which will instead cause greater psychological pressure.

It is normal to have mood swings during the fight against cancer.

1. Before the diagnosis is confirmed, you may feel anxious, seek medical advice repeatedly, and pray for safety;

2. After diagnosis, you may experience stages such as shock, denial, anger, grievance, fear, anxiety, compromise, and acceptance;

3. During treatment, negative emotions such as fear, irritability, pessimism, suspicion, and worry may occur;

4. During recovery, there may be concerns about recurrence and metastasis.

Patients should accept their emotions, express them, and actively seek understanding, support and help from relatives, friends, fellow patients and medical staff. At the same time, they should always be grateful, respect the feelings and needs of others, and avoid over-dependence and demands.

How to regulate emotions

In addition, patients can regulate their emotions by:

1. Cultivate a positive mindset

Patients can try to view their condition and treatment with a positive mindset, give themselves positive psychological hints, and motivate themselves through other people's anti-cancer stories.

2. Maintain moderate exercise and leisure activities

After consulting a doctor, patients can choose the sport that suits them based on their physical condition and interests. Patients can also relax their body and mind through leisure activities such as reading, listening to music, watching movies, painting, and doing handicrafts.

3. Maintain a healthy lifestyle

Patients should eat a balanced diet. If necessary, they can also make an appointment with the clinical nutrition department to consult nutrition experts for advice on diet.

Quitting smoking, limiting alcohol consumption, and maintaining adequate and regular sleep can keep patients energetic and emotionally stable.

4. Seek professional psychological counseling

If necessary, patients can also seek professional psychological counseling.
