You can tell whether you have a tumor by looking at your face! ?

Some time ago, a woman went out for dinner. The doctor at the next table noticed that she had thick lips, prominent brow ridges and cheekbones, and a wide nose, and reminded her that she might have a tumor. The woman was skeptical and went to the hospital for a checkup, and indeed, she was diagnosed with a pituitary adenoma.

Can you tell if you have a tumor by looking at your face?

No. On the one hand, many tumors do not have obvious symptoms in the early stages; on the other hand, the symptoms of many tumors are not specific, and non-tumor diseases also have similar manifestations.

However, the following facial abnormalities may be signs of cancer and should be treated with caution.

1. Acromegaly

If a growth hormone-producing pituitary tumor occurs after puberty, it will stimulate the secretion of growth hormone, leading to hyperplasia of bones and soft tissues in various parts of the human body, which is called acromegaly.

The specific manifestations are:

1. Enlarged nose: The nasal bone and cartilage proliferate, causing the nose to become larger and wider;

2. Forehead protrusion: The frontal bone is thickened and the forehead is protruding;

3. Wider mandible: mandibular growth causes wider mandible, increased gap between teeth, malocclusion, etc.

4. Thick lips and enlarged tongue: Hyperplasia of soft tissue in the oral cavity causes the lips to become thicker and the tongue to become larger;

5. Skin thickening: Thickening of the skin and increased sebum secretion can cause the skin to become rough, oily, and wrinkled.

In addition to facial changes, acromegaly caused by pituitary tumors can also cause hypertrophy and enlargement of the hands and feet, and thickening of the fingers and toes.

2. Central obesity

The main symptoms of ACTH-type pituitary tumors are centripetal obesity, that is, a large amount of fat accumulates in the face, chest, abdomen and buttocks, while the limbs are relatively thin, moon face (the face becomes round and flat, like a full moon), acne, hirsutism, etc.

3. Pale complexion

If the tumor is not controlled and continues to grow, consuming nutrients in the body, long-term chronic blood loss will cause anemia, and the patient will show symptoms of malnutrition and anemia such as weight loss and pale complexion.

4. Yellow complexion

Jaundice is a yellow discoloration of the skin and the whites of the eyes caused by excessive accumulation of bilirubin in the blood.

Bilirubin is a substance produced when red blood cells break down and is excreted from the body through bile. If liver function is impaired or the bile duct is blocked, bilirubin can accumulate in the body and cause jaundice.

Jaundice may be a sign of cancer because some cancers affect the normal functioning of the liver and bile ducts, such as liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, or bile duct cancer.

5. New moles appear on the face or the original moles change

Moles are formed by aggregations of melanocytes. Most moles are benign, but some may develop into malignant melanomas.

If a new mole appears on the face or an old mole changes, you can use the ABCDE method to check yourself. Malignant melanoma has the following characteristics:

A: Asymmetry: This means one half of the mole does not match the other half;

B: Border: The edge of the mole is irregular, fuzzy or jagged;

C: Color: The color of the mole is uneven, which may be a mixture of black and brown;

D: Diameter: This means the mole is larger than 6 mm, or much larger than before;

E: Evolution: The mole grows rapidly and is accompanied by symptoms such as ulceration, bleeding, pain, and itching.

After reading this, are you scared and start to "look in the mirror"? But again, if you have these symptoms, it does not necessarily mean you have cancer, but it is still recommended to see a doctor as soon as possible!
