Influenza A and influenza B happen to be infected? What should I do if there is a flu patient at home →

Recently, "A child with influenza A just happened to get influenza B again" has become a hot search

Last week, the influenza viruses detected in Tianjin were mainly type B (Victoria strain), followed by type A H3N2.

What should I do if my child happens to be infected with influenza A and then influenza B?

Experts answer questions of concern to everyone

The proportion of influenza B has increased

But don't worry too much

Compared with influenza A, which is highly contagious, has more severe clinical symptoms and is more likely to cause epidemics, influenza B is usually small-scale or sporadic, so there is no need to worry too much about the increase in the proportion of influenza B.

There is little difference between influenza A and influenza B

Doctors do not recommend self-testing at home

Influenza B is the flu caused by influenza B virus. It is characterized by rapid onset, rapid changes, chills, fever, and body temperature may rise rapidly within a few hours to 24 hours, reaching 39℃~40℃, or even higher.

The symptoms of influenza A and influenza B are not much different, and it is difficult to differentiate them based on clinical manifestations. They still require combined testing for diagnosis.

What to do if someone at home has influenza

Not every flu patient needs to be hospitalized . In fact, most infected people can be treated at home and wait for self-recovery. So, how should we do home care for flu patients?

Six points to note when recuperating

Patients should live in single rooms as much as possible to reduce the chance of contact with co-residents.

The bathroom should be ventilated, cleaned and disinfected immediately after use by the patient.

Use polite etiquette when coughing or sneezing.

Wash your hands with running water immediately after contact with respiratory secretions.

Wear a surgical mask if visiting public areas.

The patient can return to work and classes 48 hours after his body temperature returns to normal and other flu-like symptoms disappear.

Four principles of nursing

Patients should live in single rooms as much as possible to reduce the chance of contact with co-residents.

Take medicine on time as directed by your doctor.

Closely monitor changes in condition, especially in the elderly and children.

Patients should seek medical attention promptly if their condition shows the following changes: persistent high fever, worsening cough, and a significant increase in sputum; difficulty breathing or chest pain; cyanosis of the lips; severe vomiting, diarrhea, and signs of dehydration; slow reaction, drowsiness, convulsions, etc.; and a significant worsening of the original underlying disease.

Four points of protection

Family members, especially those at high risk of influenza, should avoid close contact with influenza patients as much as possible. All family members should pay attention to personal hygiene and take personal protection when in close contact with patients.

After direct contact with patients or after handling items used by patients or contact with respiratory secretions, you should wash your hands with running water or disinfect them with disinfectant.

As much as possible, a family member who is not in the high-risk group for influenza should be relatively fixed to care for and contact influenza patients who are resting at home and undergoing isolation treatment. A mask should be worn when in close contact with patients.

Closely observe the health status of family members. If any family member develops abnormal symptoms such as secondary fever and acute respiratory infection, seek medical attention in a timely manner according to the situation.

How to prevent infection for healthy family members

Keep warm when the weather turns cool

Increase outdoor exercise appropriately

Develop a good habit of washing your hands frequently

It is recommended that the elderly, young children, pregnant women and high-risk groups with chronic underlying diseases be vaccinated

Open windows regularly for ventilation
