Tongling Disease Control

In order to implement the "Anhui Provincial Iodine Deficiency Disease Monitoring Point Monitoring Plan (2023 Edition)", further understand the iodized salt consumption and iodine nutrition status of our city's residents, and actively promote the prevention and control strategy of adapting measures to local conditions, classified guidance and scientific iodine supplementation. From November 6 to 8, the Tongling City Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Tongguan District Center for Disease Control and Prevention cooperated with the Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention to successfully complete the on-site monitoring work in accordance with the provisions and requirements of the monitoring plan.

A total of 150 children aged 8-10 and 50 pregnant women were surveyed on site. The thyroid volume of children was measured by B-ultrasound. Random urine samples of children and pregnant women, household salt samples, serum of pregnant women, drinking water of community residents and salt at salt sales points were collected on site. The height and weight of children were also measured in school monitoring, and questionnaires and intelligence tests were conducted on 50 10-year-old children (fifth graders). In addition, as a new addition to this year's plan, a questionnaire survey of adults aged 18-70 in public places such as West Lake Wetland Park and Yaoshan Community Cultural Square was conducted, with a total of 100 people surveyed.

While carrying out on-site monitoring, the staff also carried out health education for key groups such as students and pregnant women, explaining in detail the basic knowledge of the hazards and preventive measures of iodine deficiency, effectively encouraging them to develop correct health behaviors and good living habits. A total of 150 iodine deficiency propaganda exercise books and 50 umbrellas were distributed.

The successful completion of the iodine deficiency disease monitoring work will help us understand the quality of iodized salt consumed by residents at monitoring points across the province, scientifically assess the iodine nutrition status of key groups such as students and pregnant women, provide a basis for taking targeted prevention and control measures and scientifically adjusting intervention strategies in the future, and continuously consolidate the results of iodine deficiency disease prevention and control.
