Some kidney diseases are more likely to affect women! Here are 6 tips to help you avoid them!

Chronic kidney disease is a global public health problem, with an incidence rate of more than 10%. The number of female chronic kidney disease patients worldwide is about 195 million, and it is the eighth leading cause of death among women. In my country, the difference in the proportion of kidney disease between men and women is relatively small, but the incidence of some kidney diseases is extremely high in women, such as pyelonephritis, which has a male-to-female ratio of 1:8, and lupus nephritis, which has a male-to-female ratio of 1:9. Let's talk about why these kidney diseases are more "favored" in women? How can we effectively stay away from them?

Which kidney diseases are more likely to affect women?

In today's society, more and more people are "targeted" by kidney diseases, and some kidney diseases have a "special liking" for women. Below we make a brief summary of these kidney diseases that "favor" women.

How should kidney disease that “favors” women be treated?

1. Immune nephropathy is often incurable. Whether autoimmune diseases can be effectively controlled directly affects the prognosis of the kidney. Its treatment should be based on the control of autoimmune diseases and then symptomatic treatment of kidney disease: (1) Patients in the acute phase should mainly rest in bed. (2) Patients with edema can add diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide and spironolactone. In addition, they should pay attention to a low-salt diet. (3) When the patient's blood pressure rises, antihypertensive drugs can be given specifically, such as angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor antagonists. (4) Patients with large amounts of proteinuria and hypoproteinemia can use immunosuppressants such as tacrolimus, or glucocorticoids such as prednisone. (5) When patients have hyperlipidemia, lipid-lowering drugs can be used.

2. Kidney diseases caused by urinary tract infection are mostly acute pyelonephritis, which is mainly treated with anti-infection treatment. Sensitive antibiotics are selected for treatment according to the results of urine culture. If it is a lower urinary tract infection, oral medications including fosfomycin tromethamine powder can be used for treatment; if it is an upper urinary tract infection, it can be treated by intravenous drip of third-generation cephalosporins, third-generation quinolone antibiotics and other drugs. In addition, it is also necessary to pay attention to drinking more water and urinating more, which will help improve the condition. 3. Patients with gestational nephropathy need to stay in bed and avoid fatigue. The diet is mainly high-protein, low-salt, and low-sodium. Hypertension is one of the common clinical symptoms of gestational nephropathy. When hypertension occurs, oral antihypertensive drugs are needed to control blood pressure within the normal range. Edema is also a common symptom of gestational nephropathy. In severe cases, diuretics are needed to reduce swelling. When there is a large amount of proteinuria, infusion treatment is required, and hospitalization is required for treatment when necessary.

How should women prevent kidney disease from approaching?

1. You should drink plenty of water, do not hold your urine, urinate as soon as you feel the urge, and develop a good habit of going to the toilet frequently.

2. Try to reduce sitting baths, choose to bathe with running water, and do not use lotions with drug additives.

3. Pay more attention to keeping warm and avoid local cold. Local cold is one of the important causes of urinary tract infection in elderly women.

4. For elderly women, a rapid drop in estrogen levels may lead to recurrent urinary tract infections. If you have related symptoms, you should seek medical attention promptly.

5. Have regular physical examinations and check your kidney condition during pregnancy. If you have chronic kidney disease, you should increase the frequency of examinations because the condition of some patients often worsens during pregnancy.

6. Strictly screen skin care products and cosmetics. Many whitening products contain metallic mercury. Long-term use can cause glomerular and tubular lesions. If you already have kidney disease, it will aggravate the condition.
