Don’t panic! These “abnormal physical examinations” are not diseases

Physical examination is an important channel for modern people to understand their physical health status, but do you know how to understand it?

❶ Understand the meaning of common symbols in physical examination reports.

↑/↓: Abnormal value.

↑: The value is too high.

↓: The value is low.

Negative: Normal.

Positive: There is a problem/abnormality.

It should be noted that a positive result does not mean a diagnosis of a certain disease, but rather a "physical warning". Specific problems require further appointment for examination in the corresponding department.

❷Choose the physical examination items that suit you.

The "must-have items" in a routine physical examination generally include:
Clinical departments: general examination, internal medicine, surgery, ENT, vision, oral examination department: blood routine, urine routine, fasting blood sugar, blood lipids, liver function, kidney function, thyroid function imaging department: static electrocardiogram, upper abdominal color Doppler ultrasound, thyroid color Doppler ultrasound, chest AP/chest CT

Women are advised to increase breast and gynecological examinations. Those who are sexually active over the age of 25 are recommended to undergo TCT and HPV examinations to detect cervical precancerous lesions and cervical cancer as early as possible. Breast cancer screening is recommended for those over the age of 40.

For the elderly, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular examinations are the focus of the examination. In addition, abdominal color Doppler ultrasound examinations, blood sugar and blood lipid tests, head CT examinations, chest CT examinations, and bone density examinations are also required. Even if elderly women have reached menopause, they still need to undergo a comprehensive gynecological examination every year, and men should undergo a prostate examination. Prostatitis and prostate hyperplasia are common problems among middle-aged and elderly men.

❸Pay attention to the "abnormal phenomena" in the physical examination report.

Sometimes we will be prompted with some "abnormal phenomena". Don't be too anxious when you see these. Some small "abnormalities" have little impact on the body. You can remember the following formula:

Don’t be afraid of [hyperplasia], but be wary of [nodules].

[Cysts] are mostly benign, [polyps] depend on size.

Finally, let me summarize for you:

1. Physical examination is necessary.

2. The more expensive the physical examination package is, the better it is. No single examination can screen for all cancers.

3. The physical examination items for people of different ages and genders have different focuses. You can do your homework before the physical examination and choose the one that suits you best.
