Can I eat before a cesarean section?

Although choosing natural birth is a more natural way of delivery, many pregnant mothers or their babies do not have good delivery conditions and cannot choose natural birth. Therefore, during a checkup in the late stages of pregnancy, it may be confirmed that the only way to deliver the baby is by caesarean section. After choosing a cesarean section, pregnant mothers should learn more and make good preparations before giving birth. So, can I eat before a caesarean section?

Doctors usually advise pregnant mothers not to eat anything, not even water, for six or seven hours before delivery. The purpose is actually to allow pregnant women to empty their stomachs before cesarean section, because cesarean section requires an empty stomach. We all know that anesthesia is required before a caesarean section, but many people don’t know that the pregnant mother will experience nausea and retching after taking the anesthesia.

But at this time, due to the effect of anesthetics, it is difficult for pregnant women to vomit, which may cause the respiratory system of the feces to be blocked, and the risk for pregnant women will be greater.

Even if the pregnant woman can vomit successfully, vomiting during cesarean section will cause trouble to the doctor, and the operation will become difficult. If the pregnant mother has already emptied the food in her stomach before cesarean section, it will be more disadvantageous for both the pregnant mother and the doctor.

What should I do if my waist is still weak after cesarean section?

1. If you suffer from postpartum low back pain, you can take care of it yourself if it is mild, and you can choose to use massage, Chinese medicine acupuncture, acupuncture therapy and topical medicine for treatment if it is severe. 2. Some mothers cannot bear the pain and will take painkillers, so be careful! Oral anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs should be taken with caution, because some drugs can enter the baby's body through breast milk, thus posing a potential threat to the baby's health.

3. Maintain a proper posture at ordinary times. Pay attention to the posture when standing or lying down. When holding a child, be careful not to let the child's weight press on the waist and back. At the same time, we must pay attention to the principle of "if you can stand, don't sit; if you can sit, don't lie down", because sitting and lying are difficult to provide proper support for the injured spine.

4. Most postpartum back pain is a continuation of back pain during pregnancy. As the fetus grows during pregnancy, the lumbar lordosis gradually increases, and the pressure on the posterior waist is greatly increased, leading to low back pain during pregnancy. If the pregnant woman's body is not restored in time after delivery, it is easy to continue to suffer from postpartum low back pain. Incorrect breastfeeding posture and excessive fatigue after childbirth can also cause back pain after childbirth. This is medically classified as postural low back pain, that is, low back pain caused by unreasonable posture, so the key to treating low back pain after childbirth should be to correct posture.
