Xiaomi Group: Xiaomi smartphone global shipments are expected to reach 170 million units in 2024, up 16% year-on-year

At the 2024 MediaTek Dimensity chip launch conference, Xiaomi Group partner, president, president of the mobile phone department, and general manager of Xiaomi brand Lu Weibing took the stage to deliver a speech.

He said that Xiaomi's mobile phone business continued to grow, with global shipments increasing by 23.5 million units in 2024 (full-year estimate), ranking among the top three in global mobile phone sales for 17 consecutive quarters, and ranking first in new phone activations in November 2024.

It is worth mentioning that Xiaomi’s global shipments of mobile phones in 2023 will be 146.4 million units. With the additional 23.5 million units, it is expected that Xiaomi’s global shipments of mobile phones this year will reach 170 million units, an increase of 16% over last year.

At the same time, Xiaomi Group made another breakthrough in high-end development. Xiaomi's global high-end mobile phone sales increased by 43% year-on-year (full-year estimate), and the first sales of Xiaomi 15 Pro increased by 17% compared with the previous generation.

According to data from an authoritative market research organization, in November 2024 (W44-W48), Xiaomi's new mobile phone activations in the Chinese mobile phone market reached 5.304 million units, with a market share of 19.7%, ranking first. Xiaomi's strong performance this time is mainly due to the launch of two new series of mobile phones: the Xiaomi 15 series and the REDMI K80 series.

Among them, the Xiaomi 15 series was officially launched on October 31, and sales exceeded 1 million units in less than 10 days.

The following is the sales volume of Xiaomi mobile phones over the years:

2011: Only 270,000 units. This was Xiaomi’s first year making mobile phones and it experienced severe production capacity tests.

2012: 7.19 million units.

2013: 18.69 million units, Xiaomi achieved shipments of tens of millions for the first time.

2014: 61.07 million units, this was the year with the fastest sales growth for Xiaomi.

2015: 66.55 million units, with a significant decline in growth rate.

2016: 55.42 million units. This was the first decline for Xiaomi, as its supply chain encountered difficulties at the time.

2017: 91.41 million units. Lei Jun took over the supply chain management at that time and Xiaomi returned to its growth trend.

2018: 118.66 million units, exceeding 100 million for the first time.

2019: 124.6 million units, steadily exceeding 100 million, but the mobile phone market has declined in the past two years.

In 2020, 146 million units were sold, setting a new record high.

2021: 190 million units, setting a new record high.

In 2022, 150 million units will be sold, maintaining the third place in the world.

In 2023, the sales volume will reach 146.4 million units, ranking first in the world for domestically produced mobile phones.

In 2024, it is estimated to reach 170 million units.
