As of March 2024, Apple's sales increased by 33% year-on-year to a record high of nearly US$8 billion

Recently, according to media reports, Apple's sales in the year ending March this year increased by about 33% over the same period last year, reaching a historical high of nearly US$8 billion.

Other people familiar with the matter revealed that the iPhone accounts for more than half of Apple's sales in India.

Apple's rapid growth in India has benefited from economic expansion and the growth of the middle class. The iPhone has become a symbol of status. Although Apple's current market share in India is only 2%, its growth potential is huge.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that India is an exciting market and the company is working comprehensively there from development to marketing and operations.

However, Apple is also facing an investigation in India. An investigation by India's antitrust agency, the Competition Commission of India (CCI), found that Apple used its dominant position in the iOS operating system app store market to engage in "abusive acts and practices."

The CCI pointed out that the Apple App Store is an inevitable trading partner for app developers, and developers can only abide by Apple's terms, including the mandatory use of Apple's proprietary billing and payment system.

Apple denies this, arguing that its market share in India is negligible while Android's market share is over 90%.

If ultimately determined to have violated the law, Apple could face fines and be required to adjust its business practices.
