China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation: China has more than 900 satellites in orbit, ranking second in the world

According to data from the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, China has more than 900 satellites in orbit, ranking second in the world . They serve thousands of industries and are present in millions of households in the fields of communications, navigation, and remote sensing.

For example, in the recent Dongting Lake dike breach incident, from blocking the dike to draining water, at all stages of flood control and disaster relief, satellite image information provided important support for disaster relief command decision-making and disaster relief. The optical remote sensing images from the sky to the ground intuitively and completely showed the overall picture of the disaster area, providing large-scale aerial image data, as well as information such as water flow velocity, flow state, and water level.

During this round of heavy rainfall, Pingjiang County, Hunan Province also experienced the longest and most intense flood since meteorological records began, with communications at more than 1,400 base stations in the county interrupted.

The local area dispatched satellite communication drones, combined with the ChinaSat-26 satellite link to access the communication network, to provide emergency communication support for more than 120,000 people in nine towns and communities.

At present, based on space infrastructure such as satellite communications, remote sensing, navigation and positioning, China's aerospace industry has developed a relatively complete application system.

Many domestic navigation map providers have switched to Beidou-priority positioning, with an average daily usage of more than 600 billion times.

It is worth mentioning that direct mobile phone satellite communication services are also becoming popular, and many manufacturers such as Huawei have already launched them.

They all use Tiantong satellites, which were developed by the 5th Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. They cover China and its surrounding areas, the Middle East, Africa and other related regions, as well as most of the Pacific and Indian Oceans, and have a designed user capacity of more than 500,000.

The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation said that with the development of giant satellite constellations and the continuous reduction of costs in the satellite manufacturing industry, satellite charges can be reduced to a level acceptable to consumers.
