IDC: China's smartphone market shipments in Q1 2024 will be approximately 69.26 million units, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%

IDC released its latest quarterly mobile phone tracking report, which showed that Honor and Huawei ranked first in the Chinese smartphone market in the first quarter. Overall, the shipment volume of China's smartphone market in the first quarter was about 69.26 million units, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%.

In terms of specific rankings, Honor ranked first in China with a market share of 17.1% in the first quarter, a year-on-year increase of 13.2%. The hot sales of the Magic 6 series and folding screen products led to a year-on-year increase of 123.3% in Honor's shipments in the high-end market above US$600 (approximately RMB 4,348).

Huawei has recovered rapidly since its return at the end of August last year. In the first quarter of this year, it has ranked first in the Chinese market, with a year-on-year growth rate of an astonishing 110%. The nova 12 series accounted for 1/3 of the entire quarter's shipments.

IDC also stated that the current supply issue is still the key factor limiting Huawei's shipments. Next quarter, as the P series is fully upgraded to Pura, the Pura 70 series, which will start again with a new attitude, is expected to help Huawei's shipments continue to increase rapidly.

OPPO and Apple ranked in the top three in the market with a market share of around 15.7%. OPPO's shipments fell 15.5% year-on-year, while Apple's fell 6.6%.

IDC said that although Apple has been constantly adjusting prices and promoting sales, it is facing increasing challenges and pressure from competing products and urgently needs to upgrade and innovate in all aspects of software and hardware to attract consumers.

In fifth place is vivo, with a market share of 14.6% and a year-on-year decrease in shipments of 10.7%.
