Twitter Financial Report: Twitter's revenue in Q2 2022 was US$1.18 billion, down 1% year-on-year

Recently, Twitter announced its second quarter results for 2022. Recently, Twitter (TWTR.US) announced its second quarter results for 2022. The financial report shows that Twitter's Q2 revenue was US$1.18 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 1%, and US$160 million lower than market expectations. Non-GAAP loss per share was US$0.08, and the market expected earnings per share of US$0.14.

Q2 net loss was $270 million, compared with net profit of $66 million in the same period last year; diluted loss per share was $0.35, compared with earnings per share of $0.08 in the same period last year.

Q2 revenue increased 2% at constant exchange rates, reflecting the headwinds facing the advertising industry in the macro environment and the uncertainty brought about by Elon Musk's pending acquisition of Twitter. Excluding MoPub and MoPub Acquire, the year-on-year growth was 3%. Advertising business revenue was $1.08 billion, an increase of 2% year-on-year and 6% at constant exchange rates. Subscription and other revenue totaled $101 million, a year-on-year decrease of 27%, and a year-on-year increase of 7% excluding MoPub.

Total costs and expenses in the second quarter were $1.52 billion, up 31% year-over-year. Operating loss was $344 million, with an operating margin of negative 29%, compared with an operating profit of $30 million and an operating margin of 3% in the same period last year.

Twitter's average monetizable daily active users in the second quarter were 237.8 million, up 16.6% year-on-year. The average number of monetizable daily active users in the United States was 41.5 million, up 14.7% year-on-year; the average number of monetizable daily active users internationally was 196.3 million, up 17% year-on-year.

Twitter's net cash provided by operating activities in the second quarter was $30 million, compared with $382 million in the same period last year. Capital expenditures totaled $154 million, compared with $276 million in the same period last year.

As of press time, Twitter fell 1.85% in pre-market trading to $38.79.
