A guy suffered from dry eyes syndrome after staying up late to watch the World Cup. Are your eyes dry?

Science Fiction Network, December 8 (Xu Mingyang) Recently, Mr. Zhang from Jiangsu Province stayed up late to watch football games for several days in a row. He also stared at the computer screen during the day, which made his eyes more painful. The doctor found that Mr. Zhang had multiple blocked meibomian glands and slightly congested conjunctiva in both eyes, and diagnosed him with dry eyes. The doctor suggested that he could take advantage of the commercials and halftime breaks to do some proper activities and apply warm compresses to his eyes to relieve fatigue.

Dry eye syndrome, also known as keratoconjunctivitis sicca, is a very common eye disease. The "Expert Consensus on Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment of Dry Eye" shows that in my country, the incidence of dry eye syndrome has reached 21%-30%, and the incidence of dry eye syndrome in women is higher than in men, and the incidence in the elderly is higher than that in the young.

Dry eye often affects both eyes, and its typical symptoms are dry eyes, eye fatigue, foreign body sensation in the eyes, and may also be accompanied by photophobia, soreness, pain, burning sensation, mucus, etc. People with disordered sex hormone levels, systemic diseases such as diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis, people who always use mobile phones or computers for a long time, often stay up late, often live in dry environments, and often wear contact lenses are more likely to suffer from dry eyes.

Tears are formed by a mixture of water, lipids and mucus. According to the main components of tears or abnormal functions, dry eye is divided into five categories: tear deficiency dry eye, lipid abnormality dry eye, mucin abnormality dry eye, tear dynamics abnormality dry eye and mixed dry eye. The most common of these is tear deficiency dry eye.

How to prevent or relieve dry eyes?

Try not to read for a long time or look at the electronic screen. After 40 minutes, you can look into the distance or close your eyes to relax your eyes. In addition, you can blink 4 to 5 times per minute, which is conducive to the secretion of tears.

You can place a humidifier in a particularly dry room to maintain the humidity in the room.

Reduce the time you wear contact lenses. Wearing contact lenses for a long time may lead to impaired lipid secretion in the meibomian glands and lack of mucin, which may affect the integrity of the tear film.

Do not use eye drops at will. Some eye drops containing preservatives may cause drug-induced keratitis. If you feel eye discomfort, you should go to the hospital for professional diagnosis and treatment.
