Treat food additives correctly and don’t be too resistant

Science Fiction Network, December 8 (Xu Mingyang) According to Science and Technology Daily, on December 6, Professor Wang Bei, Vice Dean and Doctoral Supervisor of the School of Food and Health of Beijing Technology and Business University, said in an interview with reporters that food additives have long been with humans, and are a daily part of the public diet. They are also an indispensable foundation for the modern food industry. In addition, the formulation and implementation of China's food additive standards are very strict, and parents do not need to worry too much about additives when purchasing children's food. Compared with food additives, parents should pay more attention to the nutritional content of children's food, and never "focus on sesame seeds and lose watermelons."

According to Article 54 of the Food Hygiene Law of the People's Republic of China, my country defines food additives as follows: Food additives refer to artificial or natural substances added to food to improve food quality and color, aroma and taste, as well as for the needs of preservation, freshness and processing technology.

It should be noted that food additives are not the same as additives. Additives include food additives, feed additives, concrete additives, engine oil additives, etc. In the 2008 toxic milk powder incident, some infants and young children who consumed Sanlu milk powder were found to have kidney stones. After testing, it was found that Sanlu milk powder was added with melamine. In fact, melamine is not a food additive, but an illegal additive that should not be added to food at all.

The additives allowed for use in my country include colorants, bleaching agents, leavening agents, sweeteners, acidulants, preservatives, antioxidants, etc. There are dozens of categories and more than a thousand kinds of additives. The reasonable and appropriate use of food additives can prevent food from spoiling, maintain or improve the nutritional value of food, change the color, aroma and taste of food to make it more delicious, and some additives will make the food processing process more convenient.

Of course, if food additives are used excessively, they will still cause harm to the human body, and some food additives are not suitable for diabetics or obese patients.
