Children always fall down when walking? The reason is actually this......

Many parents think that it is normal for children to fall during their growth and that it will be fine once they grow up. But what everyone does not know is that if children fall frequently, there may be a big problem hidden.

When he was 3 years old, other children of the same age could trot, but Dudu (pseudonym) often fell down. His parents thought that his balance ability was weaker than other children, so they did not pay much attention to it. Now Dudu, who is 4 years old, falls down more frequently than before. After hearing from friends around him that it might be caused by his vision problems, his parents were skeptical and took him to the Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Wuhan University for examination. After a series of eye examinations, Dudu was diagnosed with hyperopic amblyopia.

Cai Chunyan, PhD candidate, associate chief physician, and deputy director of the Department of Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology at Wuhan University Aier Eye Hospital, reminds: If the following abnormal behaviors occur, do not assume that the child is deliberately making a fuss or has bad habits. You must pay attention to it and go to an ophthalmology hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible. The Department of Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology at Wuhan University Aier Eye Hospital has now opened a strabismus and amblyopia clinic , which provides targeted diagnosis and treatment plans for different types of strabismus and amblyopia patients.

1

Incoordination when walking

Children with amblyopia will have poor vision, which will affect their body coordination. If you find that your child walks clumsily, often falls down the aisle, is unsteady when holding things, or walks down stairs, etc., parents should be alert to whether their children have amblyopia.

2

Things are not smooth, with the following manifestations:

(1) Likes to squint to see things or needs to get very close to see clearly, such as when watching TV, the eyes are usually very close;

(2) Squinting when looking at things, or even tilting the face or turning the head to look at something sideways;

(3) Obvious strabismus often occurs, such as looking at things with one eye squinting, or looking at an object with one eye and not the other.

Amblyopia is a relatively common eye disease in children, and the harm it brings to children cannot be underestimated.

1

Poor vision

This type of poor vision is different from poor vision caused by refractive error. Poor vision caused by refractive error can be corrected by wearing glasses, but even if patients with amblyopia wear frame glasses or contact lenses, the vision of most patients is difficult to improve.

2

The monocular gaze ability is very poor and cannot form normal stereoscopic vision

Therefore, amblyopic patients cannot accurately grasp the three-dimensional sense of objects and cannot engage in occupations such as surveying and mapping, and art design that require relatively high stereoscopic vision of the eyes.

3

It has a certain impact on children's psychology

Children suffering from amblyopia will have their academic performance affected. Over time, they will easily develop an inferiority complex, become more withdrawn and find it difficult to get along with others.

Dai Hongbin, chief physician, member of the Standing Committee of the Hubei Provincial Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Ophthalmology Committee, and director of the Department of Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology at the Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Wuhan University, said: The occurrence of amblyopia is related to the development of the visual system. The treatment of amblyopia is more effective during the development stage of the visual system. 3-6 years old is the golden age for treatment. After that, as the development stops, the treatment effect gradually decreases, and the hope of recovery in adulthood is slim. Therefore, "early detection, early treatment" is the treatment principle of amblyopia. Once a child is found to have symptoms similar to amblyopia, he should go to the hospital in time to avoid missing the opportunity for treatment.
