Although Android's growth rate has declined in the United States, it is still the world's number one mobile operating system. Handset Detection recently analyzed 35 million Android devices in seven countries and divided the data into four categories: the top 10 most used models, the top 10 screen resolutions, the number of unique devices, and the proportion of mobile phones and tablets.

The following are the top 10 models with the most users in the United States:

Handset Detection does not specify which device "Android Generic" is, but it also appears in the most popular device rankings in other countries. The most popular screen resolution in the United States is 1280 x 720, followed by 960 x 540 and 480 x 320. There are a total of 1,360 unique devices. Smartphones far outnumber tablets, accounting for about 86% of the total number of Android devices.

Here are some interesting things we found during our investigation:

• France has the highest proportion of Android tablets in the total number of Android devices, reaching 28%

• Samsung's Galaxy S II and Galaxy S III are among the top 10 most used models in seven of the surveyed countries

• 30% of Android phones in India have a screen resolution of only 320 x 240

• The U.S. has the largest number of unique Android devices
