Microsoft also said that since the release of Windows Phone 8 late last year, app downloads have increased 75% and paid app revenue has increased 91%.

Microsoft also pointed out that the size of the Windows Phone developer community has also grown rapidly. In the first 90 days after the release of Windows Phone 8, more than 40,000 new developers registered, and there are currently more than 15,000 applications in the online store that support the functions provided by the Windows Phone 8 system. Since October 30, 2012, the number of downloads of the developer software toolkit (SDK) has exceeded 500,000.

In the first eight days after the release of Windows Phone 8, Microsoft reduced the registration fee for individual developers from US$99 per year to US$8 in the first year. This discount may attract more new developers to join.

Microsoft also released a mobile version of the developer center statistics software today. Through this application, developers can easily view the main data indicators of their products, including download counts, crash statistics, and reviews. This application also allows developers to share the link of their application with others without logging into the online store.

In order to make Windows Phone more popular among developers, Microsoft has also cooperated with mobile backend service providers Buddy, Box and Photon Cloud, a service for game developers, to provide limited-time discounts for developers on the Windows platform, such as free application program interface requests and free services.
