NetApplications: Windows 8 accounts for 1% of the global desktop market and 0% of the tablet market

The latest data from market research company NetApplications on November 21, 2012 showed that in the week of November 11, the global market share of Microsoft's desktop operating systems was: Windows 7 at 45.47%, Windows XP at 39.58%, Windows Vista at 5.42%, and the latest Windows 8 at only 1.04%. In contrast, the market share of the Linux operating system is 1.4%, slightly higher than Windows 8. Earlier, Microsoft said that 4 million copies of Windows 8 were sold in the first three days after its launch. NetApplications data also shows that Windows 8 Touch and Windows 8 RT Touch have global market shares of 0.02% and 0.00% respectively. |
