For iOS app developers, the ranking of an app in the Apple App Store is very important: in fact, many users do not have time to identify different apps, and the top-ranked apps often become the first choice of users. In many cases, developers make profits by relying on the snowball effect of downloads. However, for app developers, they may have such a question: how many daily app downloads should be achieved to reach the top 25 in the Apple App Store? In response to this question, the famous app store analysis agency Distimo has released the latest data. Let's take a look. Distimo classified the data of free apps (Figure 1) and paid apps (Figure 2). Obviously, among the top 25 apps, the download volume of free apps is much higher than that of paid apps, in fact, the former is 14 times that of the latter (note that the units of the vertical axis are thousands and hundreds respectively). In addition, by comparing a certain column in Figure 1 of free apps and Figure 2 of paid apps (such as news), we can find that in different categories of apps, the degree of users' "willingness and tendency" to pay is also very different: users are more willing to pay for "education", "weather" and "health" apps, but do not like to pay for "news" apps. As shown in Figures 3 and 4, it can be seen that arcade games and action games have the greatest user demand, and the number of downloads required to reach the top 25 is also the largest. Although these download data are based on the US market , the download data in the Chinese market should be different. However, we can still see which applications have greater user demand and which types of applications users are more willing to pay for, and this information may have some commonality in the Chinese and US markets. Moreover, we can also use the relative data of the proportion between different applications to calculate what percentage of the download volume of one category of applications must reach the download volume of another category of applications in order to reach the top 25.
