Facebook: Users self-censor when posting

Regardless of whether your information is published or not, Facebook knows it all. Facebook calls the behavior of users who type out and delete the content that they want to say but don't send it "self-censorship"

A report released by Facebook's data scientists found that during the 17-day study period, 71% of users reported some self-censorship behavior, and the main reason for self-censorship was that users repeatedly considered who would see the post.

Status posts are more censored than comments, and men self-censor their posts more than women, showing that men are more thoughtful when speaking. As the number of male friends increases, men self-censor their posts more. There is no such difference in self-censorship behavior for comments.

Older users self-censored less posts, while younger users censored more. The more groups users joined, the more they self-censored.
