DigiTimes: Tablet sales are expected to reach 130 million units in 2013, surpassing laptops

The latest report from DigiTimes predicts that global tablet market demand will soon surpass that of laptops, with tablet sales reaching 130 million units in 2013.

The report said that Windows 8 tablets will achieve a high cost-effectiveness, and the tablet's "functionality comparable to traditional PCs" will also drive the sales of this device to surpass laptops.

In 2011, Apple iPad sales reached 32 million units, and the total tablet computer sales worldwide reached 60 million units. Analysts predict that Apple iPad shipments will double in 2012.
