eMarketer: Canada's smartphone users to exceed 10 million

Smartphones have changed people's mobile habits and the way marketers interact with users. eMarketer predicts that smartphones will continue to gain popularity around the world, and Canada, where the number of smartphone users will exceed 10 million in 2012, is no exception.

In March 2012, eMarketer estimated that the number of smartphone users in Canada would reach 10.5 million, accounting for 46% of mobile phone users, while in the United States during the same period, the number would reach 11.58 million, accounting for 47.7% of mobile phone users.

comScore estimates that in December 2011, 45% of Canadian mobile phone users used a smartphone, up 5 percentage points from September.
