February 18, 2013 It used to be thought that adults used Facebook to rediscover their youth, find new love or long-lost relatives that they never really liked. But a new study published by Mashable's Education Database Online gives us a new understanding of the adult world. Statistics show that American parents use Facebook to monitor their children. Half of parents at least want to check whether their children are taking drugs, who they are hanging out with, and how they think of their parents. 43% of parents admit to checking their children’s Facebook pages every day, and 92% of them readily and publicly become their children’s friends on Facebook. Data shows that one-third of children said that if they found out that their parents were monitoring them, they would delete their parents from their friend list. |
