Garner: 80% of enterprise social business applications may not achieve the expected results

Seeing the potential of social networks in promoting internal communication and collaboration, many companies have begun to deploy social network applications within the company, calling it social business. However, according to Gartner data, by 2015, 80% of companies' social business efforts may not achieve the expected results. The reason is that leaders do not pay enough attention and overemphasize technology.

The internal communication and exchange network of an enterprise is different from traditional IT, ERP and other applications. For traditional IT office applications, employees may not be able to work without them. However, for the social network applications of an enterprise, whether employees participate, what they gain, and whether it helps their work are not problems that can be solved by technology. It requires sufficient leadership attention and an open corporate culture to cooperate, and the value it provides can be perceived by employees and they can participate voluntarily. Obviously, many companies have not been able to promote all of this.
Garner estimates that by 2016, 50% of large companies will have an internal Facebook-like social network, and 30% will consider it as important as email and telephone today.
