Financial report: Zynga accounts for 15% of Facebook's quarterly revenue

According to Facebook's recently updated S-1 filing, approximately 4% of Facebook's revenue in the first quarter of 2012 came from display ads on Zynga application pages, and 11% came directly from Zynga payments.

That means that from January 1 to March 31, Zynga accounted for 15% of Facebook's $1.058 billion in revenue, down from 19% in 2011. But Zynga generated $95.3 million in revenue for Facebook in the first quarter of 2011, compared with $116.38 million in the same period this year (excluding display ads from app pages).

Documents submitted by Facebook in February this year showed that in 2011, the revenue generated by Zynga (including virtual goods transactions and advertising services, but excluding indirect revenue generated by users visiting Zynga application pages with third-party advertisements embedded) accounted for 12% of Facebook's total revenue.

Facebook's fourth updated S-1 document recently pointed out that Facebook currently has 901 million MAUs and 500 million mobile users. Its revenue in the first quarter of 2012 was $1.058 billion, up 44.7% from the same period last year, but down 6.5% from the fourth quarter of 2011.

If Facebook wants to maintain its current profitability, it will need to generate $4.69-4.81 per Facebook user per year.

In the first quarter of 2012, Facebook's operating income was $381 million, net income was $205 million, advertising revenue was $872 million, and revenue from payment and other channels was $186 million. International revenue accounted for 49%, exceeding 42% in the same period last year and 44% in the whole of 2011.

Facebook now has 526 million DAUs, up from 483 million at the end of 2011. In March 2012, an average of 398 million users logged into Facebook at least six days a week, and the platform generated $1.21 in revenue per user in the first quarter of this year.

In March, 83 million MAUs visited Facebook exclusively through mobile platforms, compared to 58 million in December 2011, a 43% increase.
