Optim.al: From April 2009 to December 2011, Facebook added an average of 600,000 new users per day, 7 new users per second

According to data from Optim.al, Facebook's advertising testing and management system, from April 1, 2009 to December 28, 2011, Facebook added 609 million users in 1,001 days, an average of 600,000 new users per day and 7 new users per second.

* Facebook's growth has slowed, from 7 new users per second between April and November 2009 to 6.96 users per second between November 2009 and July 2010;

* The number of new users per second climbed to 8.39 in July 2010, but fell to 7.02 in March 2011 and 5 from September to December 2011;

* In these 1,001 days, Facebook added more than 97 million new U.S. users, but in the past 90 days, its new U.S. users accounted for only 4%;

*American users account for 19.7% of all Facebook users;

* During this period, Facebook added 34.8 million new Brazilian users (an average of 1,447 new Brazilian users per hour), an average of 3,343 new users per hour over the past 90 days, and an average of 0.93 users per second. The country accounted for 19% of new users in the past three months, and Brazilian users accounted for 4.4% of all Facebook users;

*In the past 90 days, India has added nearly 5 million new users, an average of 2,304 users per hour and 0.64 users per second;

*India accounted for 13% of new users in the past three months and accounts for 3.4% of all Facebook users.

Observers believe that the slowdown in Facebook's user growth is related to the fact that its market has basically reached saturation.
