World Heart Day: Understand the factors that endanger heart health and protect your heart!

September 29th of every year is World Heart Day, which was established in 1999 by the World Heart Federation to remind people to pay attention to their hearts and let the public realize that life requires a healthy heart. In fact, World Heart Day is just a special day to remind everyone to protect their hearts, and what we need to do is to protect our hearts every day, not just on a specific day.

There are many factors that affect heart health, but many people may not understand them very well, and may even have some misunderstandings. So today we will take a look at the factors that affect heart health and how we can avoid them!

1. Smoking : Many people think that smoking only hurts the lungs, and they don’t think that smoking can also cause heart disease. In fact, when smoking, tobacco combustion produces carbon monoxide, nicotine and other substances, which may cause myocardial hypoxia, promote cholesterol deposition, increase blood viscosity, etc. Therefore, in order to have a healthy heart, we should quit smoking, stay away from smoking areas, and avoid secondhand smoke;

2. Unreasonable diet : An unreasonable diet can cause cardiovascular diseases. For example, high sodium, high calories, high salt, high fat, and high sugar intake can accelerate the onset of heart disease. Therefore, we should choose some green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, whole grains, and high-quality proteins to eat in our daily lives. A reasonable diet can ensure the health of the heart.

3. Lack of exercise : Studies have shown that most cardiovascular diseases are related to physical activity or lack of exercise. Regular aerobic exercise can enhance cardiopulmonary function. Therefore, we should develop the habit of exercising regularly, choose the right sports for ourselves, and control the intensity of exercise.

4. Obesity : Obesity is often accompanied by other risk factors that induce coronary heart disease, so in order to avoid the occurrence of coronary heart disease, we need to maintain a normal weight. Regular aerobic exercise can help control blood pressure, improve cardiopulmonary function, and relieve mood. The form of exercise can be determined according to personal interests and environmental conditions.

5. High pressure : Unrelieved stress in life may damage arteries. Long-term excessive stress and mental tension will increase the burden on the heart, so we should avoid excessive anxiety, tension and other negative emotions in daily life. We can relieve stress and maintain a good mood by listening to music, reading and chatting with relatives and friends.

The above are some of the factors that affect heart health. In our daily lives, we should avoid these situations and try to have a balanced diet, moderate exercise, a happy mood, and a healthy life, so that we can better protect our hearts.
