Proper diet and lifestyle adjustments can help our postpartum mothers recover their strength quickly.

What aspects should postpartum diet focus on ?

1. “Essence” means that the amount should not be too much

Postpartum diet should be "fine" in that the amount should not be too much. If you are breastfeeding, the amount of food can be increased compared to pregnancy, but the maximum increase is 1/5. If the amount of milk is just enough for the baby, it is basically consistent with the nutrition during pregnancy.

However, if you don’t have enough milk or don’t plan to breastfeed, the amount of food you eat can be the same as when you are not pregnant.

2. “Miscellaneous” refers to the variety of food

Postpartum diet should be particular, and the combination of meat and vegetables is very important. The types of food should be rich, balanced and complete in nutrition. The types of meat and vegetables should be as rich and varied as possible.

3. "Thin" means more water

The secretion of breast milk is one of the reasons why new mothers’ water needs increase significantly after delivery.

In addition, after the mother sweats a lot and a large amount of water in the body evaporates, the mother's diet can contain more water, such as drinking more soup, milk, and porridge.

4. "Soft" means that food should be cooked in a soft and tender manner.

The maternal food should be softer, and less fried food and hard food with shells should be eaten. Because new mothers are physically exhausted after childbirth, and many people have loose teeth, hard food is not only bad for teeth, but also not conducive to digestion and absorption.

Don’t eat greasy food

Some women who already have gastrointestinal problems before delivery will have a weaker digestive system after delivery, so they should not eat greasy supplements immediately.

Light soup

The diet should be light, and you can choose some vegetable soup, chicken soup, fish soup, and pork rib soup. Cold food is not suitable for postpartum women, which can easily cause body aches. Cook some longan and red date soup, fried black bean decoction, light brown sugar water and other drinks to drink. Strong tea and coffee, as well as all spicy, hot, fried, greasy, and sticky and difficult to digest foods are not suitable for consumption.

Preventing constipation

Don't eat foods you've never eaten before, so as not to cause discomfort. You should supplement fiber and eat some vegetables and fruits. Otherwise, if you only take in some fat and protein and don't dare to exert force because of the wound, it will often cause constipation.
