Launch Ceremony:

Professor Zhi Xiuyi, Chairman of the Conference, Director of the Science and Publicity Department of the China Anti-Cancer Association, and Professor of the Lung Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Capital Medical University, pointed out that providing patients with fair, accessible, systematic and continuous health services and achieving a higher level of universal health are the directions for the joint efforts of the government and social organizations. The Science and Publicity Department of the China Anti-Cancer Association is committed to promoting the development of science popularization in cancer prevention and treatment in my country. We should give full play to the resource advantages and expert advantages of the China Anti-Cancer Association and jointly create more high-quality science programs to serve the public and cancer patients. The project content of "Tumor Integration, 'Disease' at the Right Time" is designed and carried out based on this work concept and clinical needs.

Professor Zhi Xiuyi

Zuo Qi, Director of the Training and Development Department of the Population Culture Development Center of the National Health Commission, introduced that "the overall five-year cancer survival rate will increase by 15% by 2030." This is the specific requirement of the "Healthy China 2030" Planning Outline proposed by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. This fully reflects the firm determination of the Party and the government to safeguard the health of the people and is our Party's commitment to the health of the people. It is hoped that through a series of activities, warm stories can be collected and delivered, so that front-line oncologists can pay attention to the symptom management and humanistic care of cancer patients, and thus provide more warm medical services for cancer patients.

Director Zuo Qi

Professor Tian Yantao, Chairman of the Science Popularization Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and Professor of the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, believes that in the next 5 to 10 years, how can tumor diagnosis and treatment and symptom management bring patients higher quality diagnosis and treatment services? An important part of this is tumor science popularization. Only by deepening the promotion of science popularization can more people truly understand the latest concepts and measures of tumor prevention and early screening, and let more patients know more standardized and cutting-edge diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation concepts and technical means.

Professor Tian Yantao

Professor Ji Jiafu, Vice President of the China Anti-Cancer Association and Professor of Peking University Cancer Hospital, believes that tumors are a special type of disease caused by multiple stages and multiple factors. This determines that the treatment and rehabilitation of tumors is a complex and systematic project. For tumor patients, symptom management plays a particularly prominent role, which can minimize the pain of patients and improve their quality of life, and is an important part of clinical treatment.

Professor Ji Jiafu

Zhang Yanping, President and Executive Editor of Physician's Journal, pointed out that my country's average life expectancy has increased to 77.93 years. While we are happy, there is another data that deserves everyone's attention - the number of new cancer cases in my country is on the rise every year, which seriously threatens human health. For cancer treatment, in addition to new treatment methods, the management of patients' own adverse symptoms is what they really need.

President Zhang Yanping

The meeting was chaired by Professor Xu Quan, Standing Committee Member and Deputy Secretary-General of the Science Popularization Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and Professor of the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

Project Background

Professor Xu Quan gave a detailed interpretation of the overall profile of the project. He pointed out that the project is divided into three sections: first, case presentation contest; second, collection of the warmest oncologist materials; third, tumor symptom management column. The three activities mainly cover the medical staff/department backbones/advanced workers at or above the level of associate senior in hospitals, and leaders of disciplines in different tumor fields. Starting from real cases, to the real and touching stories of clinicians and patients, to the high-level interpretation of adverse symptom management by tumor experts, the three activities comprehensively and three-dimensionally demonstrated the important progress of symptom management in my country.

Special Lectures

"Tumor Treatment: Causes and Effects"

Professor Zhi Xiuyi

With the development of medicine, the treatment methods for tumors are constantly changing. However, no matter how it changes, the relevant symptoms always run through the entire process of tumor occurrence, development, and prognosis. Professor Zhi pointed out that in recent years, from the multiple tumor diagnosis and treatment guidelines issued by the National Health Commission, to the symptom management guidelines for patients issued by various associations, including the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, it is mentioned that symptoms accompany the occurrence and development of tumors, and the judgment of symptoms is of great significance to the evaluation and treatment effect of tumors.

He believes that during the treatment of tumors, there are many adverse reactions. Doctors should actively pay attention to and intervene, which will help provide patients with warmer medical services and improve their quality of life. At present, the global tumor burden is severe, and China is also showing an upward trend. The "Healthy China 2030" Planning Outline has incorporated cancer prevention and treatment intervention measures into the national health plan. This is conducive to the overall planning of tumor prevention and control work, and fully reflects the Party and government's adherence to the people-centered development philosophy.

Cancer Symptomology

Professor Zhang Hongyan

Professor Zhang Hongyan, member of the Standing Committee of the Science Popularization Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and the Third Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital, said that cancer-related symptoms refer to the physical and psychological manifestations caused by the cancer itself or its treatment, which can be divided into three categories: physical, cognitive, and emotional. Different studies have shown that the incidence of various symptoms in cancer patients is different, and the same patient may have several different symptoms at the same time.

In recent years, relevant associations and organizations in my country have published a number of guidelines for the management of tumor symptoms, covering multiple aspects of symptom management. With the release of a series of documents on palliative care by the National Health Commission at the national level, the main contents of which include pain and other symptom control, comfort care, psychological, spiritual and social support, etc., it can be seen that the management of adverse symptoms of tumor patients is on the right track.

Geriatric Oncology and Symptom Management

Professor Li Xiaomei

Professor Li Xiaomei, Chairman of the Geriatric Tumor Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and the Second Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital, used a real case of an elderly patient to convey to the participants the profound significance of symptom management in elderly cancer patients. She pointed out that since elderly cancer patients have multiple underlying diseases, in addition to cancer treatment, especially for terminal elderly patients, good symptom management can better reflect the value and significance of treatment than cancer treatment.

Academic Salon 1: Tracing the origin of symptoms throughout the whole process

This session was hosted by Professor Xu Quan. Professor Lu Guijun, Vice Chairman of the Palliative Care Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and Beijing Tsinghua Chang Gung Hospital affiliated to Tsinghua University, shared the true feelings of a patient. He realized that in the process of tumor treatment, patients and doctors reflect each other, and in the process of doctors comforting patients, patients' feelings will also give doctors more thoughts. Professor Liu Jun'e, Standing Committee Member of the Science Popularization Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and School of Nursing of Capital Medical University, is committed to the positive psychology research on postoperative symptoms of tumor patients. She pointed out that only by accurately finding the cause of the patient's symptoms and giving precise treatment can symptom management be elevated to the category of preventable, treatable and manageable. Professor Wu Aiwen, Chairman of the Science Popularization Professional Committee of the Beijing Anti-Cancer Association and Peking University Cancer Hospital, believes that as a surgeon, helping patients solve emergencies is the first priority. Between relieving symptoms and removing tumors, the advantages of surgery should be used to comprehensively judge the severity and urgency of patients' symptoms. Mr. Zhao Jingming, head of the marketing department of Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group, said that as a public welfare support enterprise for the launch of this project, Yangtze River shoulders important social responsibilities and will bridge the forces of all parties and spare no effort to promote the concept of integrated tumor prevention and treatment. Professor Li Guohui, honorary chairman of the Tumor Clinical Pharmacy Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and professor of the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, believes that scientific and rational use of drugs is the key, and clinical pharmacists should give full play to their professional advantages, participate in the treatment of tumors, and improve the effectiveness of patient symptom management.

Academic Salon 2: Symptom Management, Integrated Therapy

This session was chaired by Professor Chen Xiaobing, member of the Standing Committee and Deputy Secretary-General of the Tumor Prevention and Treatment Science Popularization Committee of the China Anti-Cancer Association and Henan Cancer Hospital. Professor Xie Xiaodong, Vice Chairman of the Integrated Tumor Cardiology Branch of the China Anti-Cancer Association and the General Hospital of the Northern Theater Command, pointed out that there are three shortcomings in the current management of tumor symptoms: 1. Doctors and patients lack awareness of symptom treatment; 2. The compilation of relevant symptom management guidelines in China is insufficient; 3. In terms of medication, the advantages of combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine are insufficient. Professor Zhang Xiaotian, Vice Chairman of the Tumor Supportive Treatment Professional Committee of the China Anti-Cancer Association and Peking University Cancer Hospital, introduced that in clinical practice, rare and complex symptoms require the intervention of multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment. For simple and common symptom management, clinicians need to pay attention to it at all times and make differential diagnoses in clinical practice. Professor Wu Yongzhong, Vice Chairman of the China Anti-Cancer Association and the Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Chongqing University, pointed out that clinicians currently lack awareness of the concept of tumor integration. As a result, the most fundamental demands of patients are often ignored. Returning to the clinic, doctors must observe the symptoms of patients in a timely manner and deal with them in a timely manner. Professor Hu Xiaohua, standing committee member of the Tumor Targeted Therapy Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and professor of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, believes that promoting the concept of tumor integration is inseparable from systematic training. Clinicians cannot only focus on the progress of tumor treatment, but also on the progress of symptom management to achieve true integration of tumor treatment. Professor Guan Wenxian, standing committee member of the Tumor Nutrition and Supportive Treatment Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and professor of the Drum Tower Hospital affiliated to the Medical School of Nanjing University, believes that nutritional support therapy for tumor patients has become an important part of the multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment of malignant tumors. Evidence-based medical research shows that nutritional support therapy plays an important role in tumor surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy.
