The Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Chongqing University also has popular "star products". These "star products" often have another special identity - in-hospital preparations.

As the name suggests, in-hospital preparations refer to preparations developed by the hospital itself. There is a lack of substitutes for this type of preparations in the market. Although in-hospital preparations are pharmaceutical preparations developed and used by the hospital itself, the production and use of such preparations also need to undergo strict approval and then be produced by the hospital's preparation room.

The preparation room of the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Chongqing University was founded in 1943 and has a history of more than 60 years. In January 2021, it obtained the newly reissued "Medical Institution Preparation License" from the Chongqing Municipal Food and Drug Administration, which ensures the scientific and standardized production of preparations. Now it has built a standardized medical institution preparation room integrating R&D, production and inspection.

"There is an essential difference between in-hospital preparations and corporate drugs. Breast hyperplasia is the most common breast disease in women, and its incidence ranks first among breast diseases. As the saying goes, nine out of ten girls have breast hyperplasia, and one is on the way to breast hyperplasia.

Among them, Prunella Vulgaris is the main ingredient for clearing heat and dispersing nodules; oyster and kelp are cold and salty and soften hard masses; salvia miltiorrhiza, fructus aurantii and ligusticum chuanxiong are the assistant ingredients for regulating qi and promoting blood circulation; rhizoma smilax and vetchling herb for unblocking meridians and removing stagnation; corydalis yanhusuo is the auxiliary ingredient for relieving pain; and bupleurum is the messenger for soothing the liver.

The combination of these medicines can treat both the symptoms and the root cause, and alleviate the symptoms based on the causes and locations of breast diseases such as breast hyperplasia and breast fibroids. It has the effects of promoting blood circulation, soothing the liver, dispersing nodules and relieving pain.

Shengbai Mixture

In modern society, risky behaviors that lead to Qi and blood deficiency are very common, such as irregular work and rest, irregular diet, overwork, etc. However, there is no special epidemiological survey data on Qi and blood deficiency in traditional Chinese medicine. Shengbai Mixture is a modified version of the Ginseng Yangrong Decoction in the ancient medical book "Sanyin Jiyi Bingzheng Fanglun". The whole formula nourishes the spleen, lung, and heart, and regulates the three organs of Qi, blood, and spirit. It has the function of invigorating Qi and blood, and has the power of calming the mind and tranquilizing the spirit. Among them, Codonopsis is the monarch medicine, and the two medicines are used together to nourish both Qi and blood; Poria, Atractylodes, Jujube, Astragalus, White Peony, Rehmannia, and Salvia are all ministerial medicines, nourishing the heart and liver, strengthening the spleen and replenishing Qi, and replenishing blood and activating blood circulation; among the adjuvants, Pinellia and Jiao Sanxian can stimulate appetite and strengthen the spleen, and are the source of Qi and blood biochemical transformation; Schisandra can nourish the lungs and kidneys, and can calm the mind and tranquilize the spirit; Dendrobium can nourish the kidneys and produce body fluids, nourish Yin and clear heat. During radiotherapy, cancer patients experience not only systemic reactions, but also oral mucosal reactions, which are clinically manifested as dry oropharynx, sore throat, etc. The reason is that while radiation kills tumor cells, it also damages normal tissue cells, such as salivary glands and oral mucosa, causing oropharyngeal mucosal edema, congestion, exudation and erosion, which in turn causes sore throat, difficulty eating, dry mouth, difficulty opening the mouth, etc., affecting the patient's eating, reducing the patient's quality of life, and even forcing the patient to interrupt treatment and suffer from long-term sequelae.

In the recipe, Scrophularia ningpoensis is the main ingredient for nourishing yin and reducing fire; Glehnia littoralis and Radix Trichosanthis are the secondary ingredients for nourishing yin; Honeysuckle, chrysanthemum and licorice are the auxiliary ingredients for clearing heat and detoxifying, while Tonghai Dahai is used to relieve throat and draw heat out of the body through the stool; Platycodon grandiflorum is the messenger for carrying the medicine upward to the throat.
