What is a "leopard print mango"? Can it be eaten? Can it be sold?

Recently someone recommended me a new thing called "Leopard Mango". I thought it was a new variety and I had never seen it before. Please show it to me.

The result....I saw this.

At that time, I thought that his imagination was really rich.

In fact, this is a typical "mango anthracnose", which is caused by fungi and is also the most common disease of mangoes after harvest. Quite a lot of fruits and various cash crops will get similar anthracnose, such as bananas, jackfruits, papayas, grapes, strawberries, apples, etc.

However, this is different from human anthrax and will not endanger human health, nor is it a food safety issue.

Can leopard mango be eaten?

In fact, this is a similar question to "Can potatoes be eaten after they sprout?" It is difficult to give a standard answer. If there are only a few black spots, of course they can be eaten. The black spots often soften, discolor, self-dissolve, and rot. You can still eat them after digging them out (similar to digging out the eyes of potatoes).

If there are many black spots, or even a continuous piece, the flesh inside may have already gone bad, and there will not be much left after digging out the inedible parts, so it is best not to eat it. Of course, this is always a vague judgment. No one tells you that you can't eat it if there are a few black spots, or if the black spots are too big. Different people have different criteria for "whether it can be eaten".

By my standards, the leopard mango in the picture is still... edible. I bought it by the box, the price is really good, but what should I do if I buy too much? In the end, this is what I got.

Can leopard print mangoes be sold?

Logically speaking, if it is edible, it has commodity value and should be sold. If it is not allowed to be sold, either the merchant will eat it himself (probably not finish it) or throw it in the trash. If it is edible, throwing it in the trash, isn't that a waste of food?

But as mentioned before, since "whether it is edible" is a vague judgment, in order to avoid unnecessary trouble, it is recommended that merchants try to be conservative when dealing with such "defective products".

For example, when a small amount of spoilage occurs, use a large promotional force in advance to sell it quickly. The price of leopard-print mangoes is only 10-20% of the normal price. If a mango has a small black spot, it is sold at half the price, and it is estimated that it will be snapped up. Why put it in leopard print before selling it?

For example, when there are a few signs of black spots (or over-ripening), they are simply processed and sold as cut fruit. In reality, these fruits are often used for cut fruit. It should be noted that since they are ready to eat, special attention should be paid to the processing process to prevent them from being contaminated by pathogenic bacteria, and the cut fruit should be kept refrigerated, otherwise it will easily deteriorate.

If there are too many black spots, digest what can be digested internally, and throw away what cannot be eaten. If a consumer has diarrhea and insists on saying it is because of spoiled mangoes, it is a troublesome matter that cannot be explained clearly. Why bother?

In fact, Chinese people eat very environmentally friendly food. A lot of crooked melons, cracked dates, and rotten fruits and vegetables are bought and eaten, which is in sharp contrast to the wanton waste in Europe and the United States. It is of course a good thing to maintain a hard-working and simple style, but there is still a need to be particular about the sale of goods. This is like not selling expired food, but it does not prevent me from eating it.
